Dennis’ eyes flick down to the dog bed. He’s never been denied it before. It might help keep his fur from getting dirty, at least. He grabs it and starts back to the door. He won’t make them say it. He’s been bad so that means he has to go outside.
“Dennis,” Robby says. Dennis winces and drops the bed. He should have known better.

Suddenly, he has the home and supports he always wanted.

Robby kinda sorta kidnaps Dennis after figuring out he's a hybrid who hasn't had the chance to shift in weeks, and takes him back to his house so he can be himself with Abbot. Chaos, self hatred, and the first ounce of peace Dennis has felt in years ensues.

“That’s quite the shiner, Whitaker.”
Dennis ducked his head when he recognized Dr. Robby’s voice, studying the floor as he felt a heat rise across his face. “Yeah, well, you should see the other guy.” He tried to joke, the smile not quite reaching his eyes.
“Mob debt? Bar fight? A jilted lover?”
Too exhausted to think straight, Dennis wished that he’d spent longer on rehearsing his excuse.
Robby had already stepped into his personal space to study him more closely, a finger under his chin to gently tip his head back to see the bruising better in the harsh fluorescent light. This did nothing to help Dennis think, and he tried his best to look anywhere except for Dr. Robby’s warm brown eyes.

Twenty years ago, Dick attended his first gala; a glorious, glittering affair that left his eight-year-old self wide-eyed and slack-jawed. Becoming a permanent fixture of Gotham Society was certainly an adjustment, especially for a circus kid whose performer’s smile was brittle with grief. But Dick was nothing if not a survivor. He soon learned that he could dazzle his audience with a smile and a quick quip just as well as he could with a trapeze.
And, sure, Bruce had always told him to be careful. To keep a watchful eye on his drink, and not to stray too far from Bruce’s side. But Bruce was overprotective, and Dick wasn’t a kid anymore. He didn’t need to fear Gotham’s elite because there was nothing to fear.
