Valarr breathes in sharply, loving the feel of him, when there is a gentle knock on her door.
They freeze. Lips still together, mouths open, they stare at each other, barely daring to breathe.

Summary
History remembered its villains more faithfully than its victims, and Rhaenyra Targaryen became both. She was meant to die in dragonfire and her name was reduced to ash and warning. Summary
Baelor Breakspear died beneath a summer sky, struck down in a tourney meant to celebrate peace. The songs called it noble, the histories made it simple. He had expected darkness, but instead he woke to dragons, to salt and smoke, and to a past that should have already turned to ash.
On Driftmark, he found Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen not as a distant legend, but as a woman standing at the edge of her fate.
