He caught movement again through the window. Akutagawa had stepped closer to the display — maybe noticing the fogged glass — and began wiping it with a small cloth. Their eyes met through the pane.
For the briefest moment.
Just long enough for Atsushi to give a small, instinctive smile — polite, unassuming, the way you might acknowledge a familiar stranger on the street.
Akutagawa blinked once, then offered the barest of nods. Not cold, exactly. Just... efficient. Controlled. As if even kindness had to be measured, doled out like medicine.
Then he turned away.
