Summary
He cuts off his thought process, trying to remember Annie can take care of herself, she’s the strongest woman he knows.
It’s just hard to remember that looking at her right now.
“You sick?” he asks, staying in the doorway for fear of catching whatever she’s got.
“One way of putting it,” Annie mumbles, her whole body trembling, her eyes heavy and struggling to focus on him. He thinks she looks a little dizzy. “It’s not contagious, you’ll be fine,” she promises. With that, Jeff slowly steps into the bathroom, crouching down beside her. He reaches forward to gently tuck her hair behind her ear and Annie gasps softly and presses her face into his hand. His heart skips.
“Warm,” Annie breathes. Jeff slowly moves his hand so it’s cupping her cheek, his thumb stroking over her cheekbone. She whimpers, leaning into him even more. They’ve not touched like this in a while, it’s like an addiction – he knows he shouldn’t but once he starts he can’t stop.Or
Annie suffers from a chronic illness that she can usually maintain on her own. She doesn't want anyone's help, that is until Jeff steps up and shows her it's okay to be looked after sometimes.
