She looked to where there was supposed to be a blonde head sprawled lifelessly.
Nothing.
Instead of grass, Nancy found herself standing on clean stone gravel, the shiny rim of her kitten heels glinting in the moonlight bouncing off the silent driveway. There was a board, Welcome to Horseshoe Bay, Maine.
“Sweetheart? Anything wrong?” Ace echoed. No matter how long she took, his smile wouldn’t falter.
(Couldn’t.)
Nancy got into the car with an innocent smile. “Nothing, just excited for our new future.”
