“—then no one will pay us any mind! Even if we get caught because of Appa, we can escape on him too.”
Zuko contemplated it. He could poke holes into Sokka’s plan if he really wanted to, but he wanted to find his mother.
After Zuko helps Katara find her mother’s killer, they go on a quest to find information about Zuko’s mother. During the journey, Zuko reflects on his and Katara’s past loathing of each other, as well as their past desire.

Suguru felt his eyelid twitch, fists curling with the desire to beat Gojo Satoru senseless on his balcony, but before Suguru could even pull his fists out of his pockets, Satoru had slid back over to where he’d pushed him, pale hands gripping the fabric of his pants just above his knees. He looked up at Suguru, sitting up on his knees, his sunglasses slipping down the bridge of his perfect nose enough to show off his eyes in their full glory, and those plump pink lips puckered out to form a cute little pout.

The end of the war brings with it the rest of their lives. Lives they had not dared to imagine before. And Zuko and Katara learn each other. In the future, people will say it was inevitable, it was fated, it was destined to be. Katara simply knows she would not have made any choice differently, not the simple ones, not the hard ones.

“It was...” Suguru starts, before he can go any further.
Satoru pauses, tilts his head at him, and waits.
Suguru, breathless still and almost incapable of any thought under than SatoruSatoruSatoru, finally finishes, “I’m so happy to see you. Satoru.”
Satoru smiles again – tiny, a barely-there curve at the corner of his lips. Familiar, but not like how he used to smile at him.
“Me too, Suguru,” he says, and then he’s walking away, his head lowered with one of his hands pushing the hair back from his forehead.
He looks back at him from the door. Suguru straightens, his chest filling up as he takes a desperate breath. Then Satoru waves and disappears inside.
Or, Suguru Geto hasn't seen Satoru Gojo for more than a decade. If he has things his way, he'll see him every day for the rest of his life.
