Jack was warm, uncomfortably so. Not the warmth given off by standing before a fire in a cosy candlelight room. Not the warmth Jack likes when he naps on top of car roofs to soak up the sun’s heat, or when he lays in the Warren with soft furry arms around him. No this was the internal nauseas inducing blazing heat.

A deep breath enters through his nose, cooling him down as it makes its way down. He holds it for a while, taking solace in the way it makes his lungs burn, the way it makes him feel light and heavy at the same time.
"Didn't take you for the peace and quiet type, Frostbite."
He jolts, bumping the back of his head against the metal beneath. 'Ugh... great. Just what I need; an irritating, irrational, insensitive, Australian kangaroo.'

When Aster opened his door, he wasn't expecting to find Jack there, face flushed from the cold.
Really, he wasn't sure what he had expected. The snow was picking up something fierce, so the knock was either a very determined solicitor or...a lost UberEats driver.
But no. Instead, the thorn in his side was bundled up, looking up at Aster from under a gray scarf.
