The Bats were dead and Dick was the only one left alive. He had nothing left for him so why shouldn’t he join them?
Waking up back in time was not the plan but Dick wasn’t complaining. He finally has his family back and he will not lose them again.
Robin has always been able to do what Batman couldn’t. It was okay that Bruce won’t kill. Dick wouldn’t ask him to compromise his morals.
But he had no such restrictions. He doesn’t mind killing, getting his hands dirty, and being a monster if it means his family is alive.

Or a Dark Dick Grayson who is just a tad overprotective of his family. Just a tad.

Summary
When Apollo is banished, the Fates interfere. Instead of falling in a dumpster, they send him back in time, with no memories and no powers, back in the womb - the womb of Mary Grayson. Dick Grayson grows up, and eventually regains his memories. The fates had claimed he had a task to complete - but how can he complete it if he doesn't know what it is? And what was the point in sending him back just to remember?
Whatever it is, Dick knows one thing for sure: he's not going to give up his family. Any of his family. (Screw the laws. Dick is going to be the best dad ever.)

Summary
There are rules taught to the village children since the day they learn to talk. Made long ago, with trial and error and prices paid with more than bargained for.
They're taught to keep the children safe, because they are the most naive, and as such, the easiest for a fae to trick.
They go as follows :
1. Never strike a Deal with a fae, for they are the masters of words.
2. Never give them your Name, for they will steal it away.
3.Never eat their food, for you will never return.
4. Never accept a dance with them, for you will never stop.
5.Never thank them for anything, for they will take it as a Debt.
6.Never accept one of their Gifts, for they will expect tenfold.
7. Never step into a Ring, for it will trap you in their world.
OR : The Batkids don't follow the rules of interacting with the Fae and that leaves them less than human

Dick knows who he is, knows what he did, but most importantly, he knows his Name. And a Name is a powerful thing in the hands of a fae, that fact never changed throughout any iteration of the stories he's heard.
He might be a kid, he might not be capable of killing Tony Zucco himself. But he knows something that can, and he's willing to risk his life, his soul, his freedom, his Name—
Tony Zucco will get what's coming to him. Dick will make sure of it.
So that's why he's sneaking out of the children's home in the dead of night. Setting up a plan and going to break the first rule of interacting with the fae.
He's going to make a Deal.
