Summary
In 112 AC, the mother of Rhaenyra Targaryen, Queen Aemma Arryn, died giving birth to a child. In another life, in another story, she died giving birth to a son, Baelon. But in this story, instead of a son, as Viserys had hoped for, she dies giving birth to a daughter. A small, frail thing she named Daenerys Targaryen as she left the world. Princess Rhaenyra was then named Heir to the Iron Throne, with Daenerys Targaryen as a younger sister.
The Dance of the Dragons will never be the same again.

Grief can cause a person to do many things.
For Artemis Crock, those 'many things' range from disrupting metahuman trafficking to seeing hallucinations of her dead fiancé to mentoring one young hero then another.
