    Summary

The sun was Hans' first lover, before any girl and long before Henry. Henry doesn't mind being second to that, because the sun left its kisses behind, in the freckles that dot Hans all over his back, clustered on the tops of his shoulders and arms, whispers of faded sunburns and brief boyhood escapes. Henry can't know every story, but he wants to ask, to try and hold all of them; he can't kiss every freckle, but he can try that, too.

    -

Hans has a bad morning and Henry does his best to cheer him up, and drowns in his lover's body in the process.

    Summary

Henry had clearly grown a taste for him – his mouth, his skin, all of him – ever since their first night together in Suchdol, though back then the graze of his teeth had been tentative and careful, almost shy, his lips and tongue otherwise gentle but nevertheless eager. Now he seemed all but rabid in his lust to brand him, but there was devotion in the bruises he kissed onto Hans' skin; a profound hunger to mark Hans as his.

The notion of being owned and shackled by anyone should have felt just as suffocating as the noose around his neck, but the thought of his body belonging to Henry – his page, his lover, his Lancelot – made Hans’ very soul soar with a desire so overwhelming he feared it was the fires of Hell that were coating the strings to his heart.

And yet for Henry he would gladly burn, be it by his own hand or God’s.

    Summary

Hans sighs, beleaguered. “Alright, fine, I’ll explain further. Now, we are made in the image of God, are we not?”

    “Yes, sir.”

“And as such, we embody all aspects of the divine. But because we are mortal and flawed, we do not embody them all, and imperfectly at that. When Adam and Eve ate of the apple, they introduced sin, and that sin was made manifest in their son, Cain, the first alpha.

“With Cain, wrath and rage entered the world. Eventually, God looked down and saw that it had brought ruin to his creation and he was forced to wash the world clean. They did teach you about the Flood, I hope.”

Henry couldn’t look at him. “Yes, my lord.”

“After the Flood, in His regret, God sent a gift to mankind: omegas, who embody His grace and strength. We are to tame the wrath and rage of alphas, and to stand against them to protect the innocent should that fail. And, of course, to help repopulate the world,” he adds cheekily, then laughs a little.

    Summary

They’ve come a long way since that day in the Rattay woods, and the two boys they had been, terrified and traumatized, one screaming and the other sobbing as they stood over the corpses of two lifeless, bloodless Cumans. He can’t remember now what it felt like to be that boy, the one who laughed at peasants and their silly superstitions, their un-Christian ways of safeguarding their homes and families from the legends of old, the boy who didn’t know how real the stories were, the one who discovered his life had just been saved by something he would have attempted to slay as a monster just minutes before.

    Summary

“Bound in unholy matrimony, you are mine Hans Capon. And I, yours.” It muttered, its eyes reflecting a light that did not exist. “This body, its will and desires are yours.”

It smiled. “Just as you, your lands and your people. Are now mine.”
