Kirishima waited.
“It’s not normal in my family to talk about shit like this. You guys talk about feelings like it’s nothing. Like it’s normal. Like it doesn’t make your skin crawl.” He swallowed hard. “I didn’t grow up with that.”
Kirishima shifted closer, slow and deliberate, giving Bakugou every chance to pull away. “You don’t have to be tough with me, man.”
“It’s. Hard for me. To talk about.” Bakugou ground out, teeth clenched and shoulders tense.
Kirishima had learned a lack of outright refusal was Bakugou’s way of saying yes, so he continued on. “You don’t have to tell me everything. What if you just tell me one thing for now? Something about when you were a kid—anything you want.”
“Fucking fine. One thing.” He huffed, tearing his gaze away like the act of looking at Kirishima physically weakened him.

Ochako shook her head to rid those thoughts and continued. “I think you've been given a bad rep and I want to look past that. I want to get to know the real Bakugou. Not the Bakugou everyone whispers about. I want to go out with you sometime.”
She finally looked back up and there was a look on his face she couldn't quite understand. His anger was present, but his face looked more relaxed, maybe out of shock.
Now was the hard part. She had to be purposely mean to him. She wasn't good at being mean. She had to tell him that he was nothing but a bully and that he was mean and rude and he would never find someone to like him. It was harsh but it was what Hagakure had written for her to say and she didn't really know what else to say. Her nerves were frayed.
She went to open her mouth, but he beat her to it. “I'll meet you at the campus gates this Saturday at ten. Don't be late, I don't like when people waste my time.”
Wait..what?
Ochako makes a dumb bet when she was a little tipsy and now she has to follow through.
Her target: The infamous and standoffish Katsuki Bakugou.

When Katsuki comes home and is met only with silence even though the door was unlocked, he knows Hitoshi’s mission didn’t go over well.
“Fuck,” Katsuki mutters as he toes off his shoes and then takes the time to throw on a ratty shirt and soft sweatpants before he goes to find Hitoshi in the bathroom.
Just like Katsuki knew he would be, he’s curled up in the bath, pressed into the far end, his arms around his legs and his face buried in his knees. It’s still unbearably hot in the bathroom, so he can’t have been there for long yet, which means that Katsuki wasn’t that far behind him.

Hitoshi thinks it’s the happiest moment of his life when the cat bonks its entire head into his hand afterwards and the bliss lasts for a good five seconds before Yamada speaks.
“Ah, I see you’ve met Bumbles.”
It’s enough to make Hitoshi go ice-cold with terror and he scrambles away from the cat, trying to put as much space between him and the defenceless creature as he can.
“Please, it’s—it’s my fault, it didn’t mean to pay me any attention, I made it, I brainwashed it, please don’t hurt it,” he rushes out, stumbling over his words in his haste and he feels as if he’s choking on fear. “Please, the cat didn’t do anything wrong, it was me, all me, please, don’t!”
“Shinsou,” Yamada whispers out, and Hitoshi doesn’t dare to look up at him, doesn’t dare to do anything but to cower on the ground and hope they’ll go after him instead of the cat.

It starts slow.
Shinsou messages him when he can't make it to school or training, when the trains are delayed due to a villain attack. When Shouta drops that he adores cats almost more than he does his husband, Shinsou starts sending him pictures of stray cats he apparently feeds and it's something they talk about a lot.
Shouta makes sure to always answer the kid, even if it's just a simple 'Okay' but he never lets a message go unanswered, not if he can help it.
It takes even longer for Shinsou to trust that Shouta's offer for him to come by whenever was genuine.
