Glinda falls on the bed that she'd made mere moments before. As she kicks her heels in excitement, Elphaba lets herself pretend like she's just passed her finals or gotten kissed or found a blouse to match her bag. For a clock-tick, the whole world is in their hands again. Everything and nothing matters, and they're far from rounding the corner to thirty.

Three days before Halloween, Wirt catches sight of his multicolored sclera and stays in the bathroom for an hour being sick. Greg uses the bathroom afterwards to cough more leaves out of his throat, asking politely for a cough drop when he’s done.
Two days before Halloween, the smell of oil finally comes out of their clothes.
Even after returning home from The Unknown, Wirt and Greg still have to deal with the aftermath of The Beast's lingering presence.

Apparently, when you are trying to avoid something, with every fiber of your soul, that is when it will always find you. Perhaps it's the rhetoric of the red string itself; how it dangles from your hand, pompous. Saying, smugly, without words, I told you so. All roads lead back to the source, capillaries or roots of a tree funneling to the same end goal.
In your case, all roads lead back to the SuperStar Daycare.
