Sequel to - Under Moonlight, We Change Our Futures Yet Again

For the first time that Di Feisheng can truly remember, he is absolutely free. He can go anywhere, choose any life he wants, and do whatever pleases him. And he’s made his choices. He’ll go to the Lotus Tower, and choose to live there on whatever terms Li Xiangyi will agree to, and do…well there are many things he wants to do to Li Xiangyi.

Or Di Feisheng decides to leave the everyday running of Jinyuan Alliance to Wuyan, struggles with being able to relax or even sleep following having been alert for danger for so long, and goes to visit Li Xiangyi, because he's pinning his whole future on getting to be there with him.
Exhausted and having not had time to process anything that's happened to him over the last couple of weeks - or possibly ever, Di Feisheng jumps to an awful conclusion regarding Li Xiangyi willingness to stay alive even though cured from a half heard conversation. The resulting situation leaving him in need of care and comfort.

    “Because Pantalone is right.”

“About hanahaki or about how pathetic I am?”

The Puppet is quiet for a moment. “Both.”

Panic does not fill Tartaglia. He does not feel fear coiling in his stomach. He is not indignant at the insults.

    He accepts it.

    There’s no time for grief.

Within the cold walls of Zapolyarny Palace, Childe fights the flowers eroding him. The Harbingers all worry for him in their own ways.

    Summary

It is quite foolish of him, he thinks, gently caressing the petal between his fingers. This state he finds himself in, the way he grew fond of no more than mere soldier, a mere means to an end. A Contract to end All Contracts, and yet he went for friendship, charmed by youthfulness and pure curiosity.

Zhongli’s not stupid nor ignorant; he’s sure of what he’s looking at, even though it seems ridiculous, offensive. Some deep, deep prideful part of him rumbles at the thought of it, enraged and furious.

(Or: A six thousand year old god falls in love for the first time. It is as painful as it sounds.)

    Summary

Zhongli pinches his nose and sighs heavily, already hating himself for giving in so easily. “If I humor you, will you return to Mondstadt and leave me alone?”

Venti makes a show of resting his hand solemnly over his heart. “On my honor as Barbatos, God of Wind and defender of the City of Freedom. If I lie, may Celestia forsake me and throw me into the Abyss.”

The sleeping dragon inside Zhongli stirs pleasantly at the thought of the drunken bard being thrown, flowery hat first, into the Abyss. Maybe this situation is a win-win for him after all?

    “Very well. One game.”

(Or, Zhongli accepts to play a drinking game with Venti and soon realizes he has made a terrible mistake. Wine is poured and feelings are faced.)

    Summary

It’s been two months since the storm, and Childe hasn’t seen Zhongli not even once, not since that fateful meeting with the Signora where the truth is finally unveiled.

And what a fun little kick to the gut that is, the realization that not only had he been played by all sides, but he's also being tossed aside like trash now that his use had run its course.

It’s not that Childe doesn’t get it. He’s a Harbinger. He knows first-hand what it means to do his duty, to put the mission first and his personal feelings far, far away, preferably locked up in a box, where it wouldn’t interfere with his job. He knows what it’s like working with vipers, to scheme and plot and lie in wait for the opportune moment to stab his opponent in the back.

But this time, this time Childe can’t help but feel a little (a lot) gutted.

Stupid. He’s gotten himself stupidly attached.

    --
A story about Childe trying to move on after the events of 1.1 Update, but some of his actions have consequences, and those consequences have followed him back to Snezhnaya.

NOTE: THIS FIC WAS DRAFTED BEFORE 1.1 UPDATE CAME OUT. MIND THE CANON-DIVERGENT TAG FOR THIS REASON.
