Chapter Text
"Elil?"
"Back already?"
"Well. Amar. Was a bit." They frown a bit as Elil laughs.
"You're looking for a place to sleep?"
"Yes."
"Ain't the first time," Elil swims past him into the first room, "Sometimes you set up in here. Most of the time. But there was the one time you stayed around Lultra more, or with the twins."
"I have?"
"Yep. You've done a lot. Even slept as far down as you could. Pitch black down there."
"I am afraid of the dark."
"That's what I thought."
"Hm."
"You've made various beds, I'll leave you to it. Always close by if you need me."
"Thank you."
"No problem." They wait until he's swam back into the second room before looking around the room. It's pretty empty. Aside from pots stacked around the side. A bed... well. Kelp would be strong enough to weave together. Kelp. Kelp works.
They lift the teleporter up and turn the dial to Amar, blinking as the world melts and reforms around them. The sea creatures are still jumping about, unaffected by the passage of time.
"You're back already?!" Amar dives to them, swimming quick circles around them.
"I was wondering if I could take a few kelp stocks?"
"Why? It's not great food."
"I want to use them to make a bed."
"Ahhh, go ahead!" The otter swimming upwards, rejoining a few dolphins.
They swim to the outskirts of the forest, plucking an empty scallop shell from the soft sand as they do. The kelp seems older than they thinks it is.
Shrugging off thoughts, they set to chopping through the kelp with the scallop shell. It works well enough and when they have 8 stalks, they leave the shell, and start the swim back.
They weave the long plant into a rudimentary quilt, tying the ends to kraggley parts of the stone. After looking at it for a moment, content with their achievement, they turn to grab Elil, show him what they'd managed to make in the short time, but they can only see the shape of him, curled up in a gap in the stone.
They untie the hammock and swim as silently as possible into the second room, tying it back up closer to the eel.
