Summary:

“Noctis,” you say then, and I feel the weight of your eyes, and look up.

“What do you want?” you ask me.

Ah.

I look down at my gloves, gleaming in borrowed light.

“I want… a lot of stuff, Ignis,” I say finally.

Notes:

“I want more life, fucker.”

Chapter 1: hungry (for more than food)

Chapter Text

1.

If we stay here long enough, Prompto will probably get laid.

We’ve been taking care of local hunts. Small fry, mostly, critters a little too dicey for the townies. The pay’s decent, and Lestallum makes a good landing point, even if it is crazy hot. The food here is superb. We all eat like pigs, but nothing happens; we’re burning it all off, coming back to the hotel at the end of the day restless and hungry for more than food.

Prompto’s leaning against the skewer cart and it appears he’s figured out how to turn that cheesy grin he used to have when he talked to girls into something more seductive; I wouldn’t call him suave, exactly, but there’s a boneless quality, an almost liquid grace he’s grown into, and when he drapes an arm around this one, think her name’s Cristina, I’m not very surprised.

Gladio’s already got some kind of low-key arrangement with Tree, junior foreman for the Exineris patch team; tall and rangy for a girl, the kind of person that used to get called ‘rawboned’ in Crown City, a dumb insult for a force of nature. Climb her like, I think, watching Gladio, shirtless most of the time now, salute me and melt away into the shadow cast by an awning.

When I stop to tell you my thoughts about Prompto’s chances, Gladio’s squeeze, I see the corner of your mouth turn up.

“Dinner just us,” I tell you. “Cook me something?”
