A marvelous extension of the movie (or the musical).

one of the comments went "this has the right amount of whimsy leveled with reality" and that could be it, and that's probably it, but there's sth else here i can't explain. i love this so much; there's a peculiar sadness i get consuming anything that i have loved, not just when the lovely thing ends, but during the course of unfolding it. it's just, strange, it's just a pervasive nostalgic sadness that people love to romantically talk about "i've never experienced this but i miss it" and i wholly agree, i am that romantic, YOU are that romantic, and i miss all of this without having experienced it and maybe that's why lovely things make me sad but that's not entirely it. anyway. it's mostly to do with epilogues, to do with how things go on after they have ended, how does one carry on, amelie helps people go on, carry on, throughout, and she gets her magical end, but she goes on as well. like life at the two windmills. like life with nino.
She laughs when things are properly funny, too, of course. And Nino mostly laughs with her, then. But she can't quite bear to share the other parts that have always been hers alone.
personally this bit is imp to me. amelie-pov fic (imp!), the bits of hers that are hers and the bits of them that fit together, draw apart, try to stay together. <3
