A mission gone wrong - BSD / BNHA Crossover

Summary:

The Armed Detective Agency and Port Mafia are asked to investigate "amplified abilities" around Yokohama. After initial complaints, Dazai and Chuuya agree to work together. Their group manages to find the culprit and devises a plan to apprehend them. It's supposed to be foolproof but something goes horribly wrong. Dazai and Chuuya are sucked into an amplified portal which teleports them into the future. Two hundred years.

They land in the middle of a highschool and learn that abilities have become much more common and are now called quirks. As they figure out a way back to their time, they have to act as teachers for the hero course students in class 1-A, in return for U.A. to help them out with housing, I.D. and information gathering.

Chapter 1: Two Hundred Fucking Years

Chapter Text

This wasn’t how Chuuya had imagined his day to go. If you asked him how he got here, he’d say it was Dazai’s fault. No, scratch that, it was the entire agency's fault for not doing their research properly in the first place. They had investigated a joint “enemy”, if you could call it that. There had been instances around the city where abilities acted up, reports stating that they were “amplified” by something. The Special Division for Unusual Powers had turned to the Armed Detective Agency and Port Mafia in order to figure out what was going on. Fukuzawa and Mori had contacted each other and set a few of their members to investigate the issue together.

The compensation promised was great enough for Mori to put his best people on the case. The Agency was supposed to do the detecting and Chuuya together with his men was supposed to help apprehend the masterminds behind whatever was going on. A perfectly separated cooperation between both parties, which of course didn’t turn out the way they had intended.

They had found out that it was a serum that amplified abilities, to the point that they would get out of control. The Agency even managed to find the mastermind behind it; a small town scientist, who had previously moved to Yokohama in order to test his new serum. Some members of the Port Mafia had run into the man as well, hungry on the power promised, they had injected the serum. Some weren’t alive anymore due to the fallback of the amplifications; others barely managed to get themselves back in control before having their abilities cancelled by Dazai.

Something that hadn’t sat right with Chuuya from the beginning was working with the bandage-wasting bastard together. He had to admit though that Dazai was integral to the mission’s success, so he had grit his teeth and complied with the boss’s orders. Besides himself and his ex partner, the weretiger, Akutagawa and Ranpo Edogawa were put on the case as well. Ranpo had been the best help so far, figuring everything out rather quickly. He was, however, just as much of a hassle to work with, testing Chuuya’s patience just as much as Dazai had. Ranpo had figured out the hideout and sent the others in to apprehend the scientist.

Akutagawa and Atsushi were supposed to distract the people, who the scientist had hired for protection, while Dazai and Chuuya made their way to the man himself. They had anticipated for some amplified ability users to be around, which was why the former double black duo was sent in and no one else. If worse came for worse, Chuuya could use corruption, overpowering any enemy and Dazai would be there to stop him, as well as apprehend the scientist, when Chuuya was out cold. It should have been a foolproof plan from the get go, even Chuuya had to admit that. It shouldn’t have taken longer than an hour tops.

So why was it that they were currently being sucked into a powerful vortex, so strong, Chuuya’s gravity manipulation couldn’t keep up with it. The vortex led straight to a portal, which, if he heard correctly, would send them to the unknown future. They barely held on to the railings behind them, Chuuya desperately waiting for Dazai to come up with a plan. The latter was currently trying and failing to hold on, his feet taking off the ground as the vortex grew stronger.

“DAZAI!” Chuuya’s voice felt loud but was barely audible through the sound of the vortex, pulling at them and their surroundings. “WHAT’S THE PLAN?” his partner locked eyes with him before biting his lip, his knuckles white from desperately holding onto the railings. “I’m not sure.” he heard Dazai say and it would have fueled Chuuya’s anger more if his partner’s finger didn’t start peeling from the railing, one hand already lost to the gravity of the vortex.

“Shit, hold on!” Chuuya yelled before taking his own right hand off the railing. Feeling the pull of the vortex, trying to reel him in, he stretched his arm as far as he could without being sucked away. “Come on! Take my hand, mackerel.”

Dazai gripped the railing with his right hand tighter, trying to pull up his left hand, barely able to fight against the pull. Chuuya bent a little further, their fingers touching before he managed to grab the other’s hand. Something Chuuya hadn’t anticipated in his vain attempt to help Dazai was his glove being pulled off his hand. As soon as their hands touched, Chuuya felt the drag of the vortex twice as hard, his own ability being disabled by Dazai, whose eyes opened wide in shock. Both men realised at the same time that they were done for, as Chuuya’s own hand couldn’t hold them both without his gravity manipulation. The tug of the vortex pulled Chuuya’s hands forcefully off the railing and he sailed right past Dazai, who still held on with his right hand, almost dislocating his shoulder at the sudden change of position.

“FUCK! DON’T YOU DARE LET GO!” Chuuya yelled as his only way to not teleport god knows where, was hanging on the long dainty fingers of one Dazai Osamu- who, to his credit, was trying very hard to keep holding on, but just wasn’t as strong as Chuuya. “I have to let go, or my shoulder will dislocate and send us both flying.” he yelled at his former partner, the fear in Chuuya’s eyes took over as he realised what that meant.

“I SWEAR IF YOU LET ME GO I’LL KILL YOU” his voice wasn’t full of anger but desperation. He wouldn’t manage to find a way back to their time, no matter how far he’d go. The enemy’s ability was to open portals to the future. Which in itself was already bad, but he had taken a double dose of the serum, making not only the vortex into the portal ten times stronger but amplifying how far into the future the portal would lead. Chuuya wasn’t entirely sure, but he knew he could be sucked ninety to a hundred years into the future, which wasn’t a great prospect, if he was honest. His hat blew off his head and Chuuya couldn’t even try to save it.

“DAZAI!” he yelled before he felt the hand holding his retreat. “I SWEAR” he screamed as he was sucked into the portal. “I’LL KILL YOU” his voice got quieter and quieter. Dazai blinked before he felt a sharp pain in his right hand, which had been gripping the railing. He looked up into the scientists retreating and glinting eyes. He was strapped into gigantic magnetic boots, keeping him firm in place, holding a hammer, which he had just used on Dazai’s hand. The man laughed hysterically before waving with his free hand. “Bye, bye demon prodigy! Greetings to your partner back in the future! If there is one, once I’m done!” he cackled and Dazai watched in horror as his view got contorted and the scientist, together with the building they had been in, blurred before everything was gone and he was surrounded by white nothingness.

“DAZAI-SAN! CHUUYA-SAN!” Atsushi stormed the room, Akutagawa trailing behind him. The scientist laughed loudly, wiping the tears of joy, which had formed in his eyes. “They’re gone to the future, my boy. And so will you, once I’m done with you.” he smiled widely as he instructed the amplified ability user to open another portal. To the scientist’s surprise, he wasn’t able to do so, as Rashomon impaled the man from below, rendering him immobile. Atsushi took that as his cue to move in and with the fast and swift movement of his ability, he knocked the scientist out cold.

“Ranpo-san! Dazai-san and Chuuya-san have been sucked into a portal to the future.” He relayed the information they had gathered to the detective, who, in the safety of the agency's office, looked grimly ahead. “Get both the scientist and portal creator here, Yosano will heal the ability user, so we can devise a plan to get Dazai and Mr. Fancy Hat back.”

Chuuya didn’t know how long he’d been falling when the white around him opened up and he could see pavement below him. He activated his ability, landing on his feet. As he dusted himself off, he felt weight crash into his back.

“OI” he exclaimed loudly before his face kissed the ground. “BASTARD. Get off me.” he screeched, while Dazai rolled off, laying next to him.

“I feel sick.” the latter murmured, before sitting up and holding his mouth shut. “I swear you shitty bastard, if you vomit on me, I’ll kill you for real.” Chuuya huffed in response, before getting up again, cracking his back to release some of the tension from the crash.

Dazai gulped down the beginnings of the upcoming vomit before looking around. His gaze stopped at a group of teenagers, who stood in front of them, eyes wide, wearing some sort of school uniform. The students looked between fifteen and sixteen years old and Dazai noticed physical abnormalities in at least four of them. Blinking the surprise away he caught Chuuya’s eye, as he watched Dazai, probably waiting for some sort of plan.

“It seems we’ve crashed into a school yard.” Dazai stated the obvious and Chuuya couldn’t hold back his annoyance as he face-palmed himself before flailing his arms. “No shit. You’re doing your detective job justice, shithead. Couldn’t have figured that out myself.” Sarcasm was dripping from Chuuya’s voice as he glared at his, still sitting, partner. Seemingly having forgotten that they had onlookers, Chuuya pulled Dazai up by his collar before seething at him. “Also, don’t you dare think I forgot you dropping me into this stupid portal, after I tried to save your sorry ass!” Dazai, now standing, looked down at the ginger, eyes pleading and hands raised in surrender.

“To be fair, I tried holding on to you, but my shoulder would’ve dislocated, dropping both of us. I had a better chance in getting you back, without being stuck with you here.” Chuuya fumed with anger as he tightened his grip pulling Dazai to eye level. “And then why, the fuck, did you just crash into me?” his voice was angry and Dazai blinked before looking away sheepishly. “The scientist struck my hand with a hammer. Out of human reflex I let go of the railing.”

Their onlookers made themselves known again, screaming in surprise at Chuuya who started glowing red, as his ability activated. “Chuuya, you’re scaring the kids.” Dazai whispered, before touching the other’s hand, which was still clutching his collar. “And you’re also close to choking me. Which isn’t a nice way to go.” he patted his hand and, to their onlookers surprise, Chuuya stopped glowing red and let go of Dazai’s collar.

“Fucking fix this.” he growled before crossing his arms and turning around. Dazai let out a deep breath before rubbing his throat, which had been slightly cut by his own dress shirt.

For the first time since landing in the middle of a school yard, one of the students had gathered enough bravery to address them. “Excuse me, but you’re trespassing U.A. school grounds! We have to inform the authorities and have you removed, since we’ve been attacked a couple times recently.” A tall student with blue, slicked back hair and glasses had walked forward. Chuuya opened one eye to stare at the kid, while Dazai smiled brightly, assessing the students intently. “Nice engine calves you got there.” he commented, ignoring the boy’s first words to them, before bowing down to get a closer look, his hand on his chin in thought.

“Chuuya, look, he has engines in his calves. Fascinating, wouldn’t you agree?” Dazai, ignoring the blatant and shocked stares of the student and his classmates, turned toward the other, who groaned before putting his hands on his hips. “You’re scaring the kids, Dazai” he mocked his partner's previous statement in response before looking around. “No need for you to get anyone, we’ll be on our way now. Sorry for dropping by.” he addressed the blue haired student, who looked quite taken aback. He pushed up his glasses before robotically flailing his arms.

“I’m afraid we can’t let you leave like that! You have entered U.A. school grounds unsupervised and therefore need to be apprehended.”

Dazai stood up properly again, looking sheepishly at them before thinking over his next words. A scoff from behind him informed him that the kid’s comment set Chuuya off. The other growled out a response before Dazai could intervene.

“Listen here, kid, we’re not here to cause you any trouble. Let us leave and we won’t have to resort to unnecessary violence, okay?” A reasonable suggestion if you asked Chuuya, who was pretty proud of himself for not snapping immediately upon being offended like that. He knew he needed to keep himself in check, since they didn’t know how far into the future they had travelled and getting unwanted attention was the last thing they needed.

Two other students moved forward, one with spiky blonde hair and red eyes as well as a tall one with black hair and weird looking knobs at his elbows. The blonde boy scoffed at them, “Who the hell do you extras think you are, huh?” he asked and his tone of voice made Chuuya’s blood boil immediately. The black haired student crossed his arms as well, leaning forward a bit. “Are you threatening us? That’s what it sounded like to me.” he pointed out and Chuuya had to really bite down on his lip so as to not crush all of these brats in one fell swoop. His saving grace or rather growing headache, came in the form of Dazai, who moved between the two parties, holding up his arms in surrender, smiling brightly at the teenagers.

“We’re sorry if we worded our intentions wrong. We’re not here to harm you. We didn’t mean to come here to your school. We don’t have any business with you which is why we want to leave as soon as we can. You saying you need to apprehend us, makes it sound like we’re some kind of dangerous criminals. All we did was, accidentally, drop by your school. No need to be as defensive as you are.”

The students eyed the two intruders warily before another one moved forward, a girl with a black ponytail, clasping her hands together tightly, in an attempt to ground herself. “We apologise for how we worded our intentions, too. However, we need you to come with us, so we can resolve the issue of trespassing. It’s an order we’ve been given by our teacher. We do not want to cause you any more trouble, but we are protecting ourselves from villain attacks. We didn’t mean to antagonise you. We hope you understand.”

She bowed deep, waiting for Dazai and Chuuya to react. Both blinked in surprise before Chuuya raised his brow in confusion, shifting his weight to his right leg. “Villain attacks?” he questioned just as Dazai looked between the different students, trying to figure out whether they were kidding or not. All of them looked dead serious, one, he noted, had his phone out, trying to hide it behind his back. So whoever was in charge had already been informed. A sigh escaped Dazai as he turned on the spot, surprising Chuuya who blinked confusedly at him. “What now, mackerel?” he asked before Dazai walked toward him whispering in his ear.

Chuuya’s face grew bright red, who knew whether out of embarrassment or anger, before he screeched. “NO FUCKING WAY! ARE YOU MENTAL? THAT'S NOT GOING TO WORK.” He tried getting some distance between himself and Dazai but the latter wrapped his arm around his waist, before tugging him close. “Let’s give them a piece of our acting.” was the last instruction whispered in Chuuya’s ear, who couldn’t possibly turn redder than he already was, before Dazai started wailing to him.

“OH my dear Chuuya! I’m sorry for ruining our honeymoon by getting us in trouble again! Please forgive me." He dramatically turned toward the students, "We’re really sorry for intruding, we met someone who promised to teleport us to a nice honeymoon getaway and they must have ripped us off, taking us here instead. Whoever you called, could you explain to them that this was all a big misunderstanding.”

Everyone stared at Dazai in confusion and second hand embarrassment, Chuuya still bright red, pressed tightly to his side, was simultaneously trying to wriggle out of his grasp.

“Um… We’re really sorry Mr. uh?” the black haired kid started, “Dazai” “Mr. Dazai.” Next to the black haired boy the blonde, angry looking one scoffed in annoyance. “The hell’s with the sudden change of attitude. We’re not stupid. You don’t have to pretend to be here because of a ‘failed honeymoon’. The ginger anger management over there looks like he’s ready to blow your head off. Doesn’t look like love to me.” Chuuya had been ready to blow Dazai’s head off, but hearing that arrogant voice again, set his anger toward the disrespectful brat, glaring at him instead. Before anyone could do anything a man with a long grey scarf and messy black hair, approached them.
“I came as fast as I could. What’s going on here?” “Mr. Aizawa!” the students exclaimed, sounding relieved. The man stood between them, shielding the students from Dazai and Chuuya.

“Well hello there, you must be the authority the kid’s have been talking about.” Dazai smiled brightly again, before bowing lightly in greeting. “My name is Dazai Osamu and this is my lovely partner Nakahara Chuuya.” His voice was laced like honey, trying hard not to attract further suspicion and prejudice against them.

“What are you doing here and how did you get into U.A.?” the man asked, his face unmoving and his eyes looking tired but alert.

Dazai, releasing his tight grip on Chuuya, smiled again, before explaining. “We were wrongly teleported here. We wanted to leave but your students said they needed to apprehend us for trespassing.” Aizawa, who the kids had called him previously, sighed tiredly as he rubbed his temple.

“Well yes. We have been under attack more often than not. This is a safety measure for our students. However, a mere portal shouldn’t have gotten past our detectors, so, who are you really, what’s your objective and how did you get in here?” His eyes looked sharp as he stared at them, before unfolding his long scarf.

Dazai eyed him warily before letting out a long breath, wiggling his hands back and forth. “Alright, I’ll stop the show. You guys can’t be fooled anyway. We’ll tell you the truth about us after you answer a simple question.” he smiled, this time not kindly but menacingly, Chuuya who’d moved behind his partner slightly shook his head in annoyance. “Alright, what’s your question?” Aizawa humoured the stranger across from him, raising his brows slightly.

“What year is it?”

It got awfully quiet all around, Aizawa looked surprised as much as his students did. “You want to know what year it is?” He repeated Dazai’s question to make sure he had understood him correctly. The latter nodded, Chuuya behind him stretching before preparing himself for the answer. He supposed they made it about eighty or ninety years into the future. With luck some of their coworkers were still alive.

“June fifth 2232”

Chuuya choked on his own spit at the revelation whilst Dazai’s eyes got wide, he turned around to assess his partner’s reaction. The other coughed before fixing them with a shocked glare. He caught himself just as Dazai, out of reflex, held up his hands in defence. “Now Chuuya, remember who’s the brain between you and me! Killing me now, will leave you stuck here for longer than you want.” he rambled on before the ginger had closed the distance, his hand in his collar before he exploded in Dazai’s face.

“TWO HUNDRED FUCKING YEARS” he was heaving and panting in fury, red from the anger he started lifting the other even higher. “Chuuya, it’s not my fault!” Dazai reminded him before tapping his hands. “Let me down please.” he smiled at his partner. The latter practically threw him down and Dazai landed harshly on the ground, shaking his head and rubbing his bum. “Fuck.” Chuuya cursed before pulling his hair in agony. “We’re never going to find anyone, they’re all dead. Which means we have to find a way back by ourselves, if we’ll ever find one.” His face paled at the sudden realisation that they had no way of knowing if they’d ever be able to return to their own time.

“Shitty Dazai, you better get us back, or I’ll kill you for real!” he addressed his partner, who had gotten up, dusting off his pants and nodding along. “We’ll find a way, no need to worry, chibi.” The only response Dazai got was an angry glare before Chuuya turned to Aizawa, who had been patiently watching them, trying to comprehend their reactions realistically. “Oi. We’ll tell you about our predicament, but not here. Is there someplace quiet where we can tell you everything? I swear, on our lives, that we’re not here on purpose or to harm anyone.”

Aizawa relaxed his stance, his posture slumping down a little before he nodded. “I’ll make a call to headmaster Nedzu. We’ll discuss this with him in his office.” Chuuya nodded, fine with that arrangement before he massaged his temple. “I’m getting a headache. Shit.” Aizawa turned to him again. “Would you mind stopping the cursing? There are children around.” his voice was monotone as he waved for them to follow him. “Huh? They’re teenage brats, they probably already know all the cuss words there are.” he murmured defiantly as he pulled Dazai along to follow Aizawa to the headmasters office.

The students were left gaping after their teacher and the two intruders, who seemed to have both very overwhelmingly strong personalities. “You know, from their reactions and the whole ‘Two hundred fucking years’ bit, I’d bet my money on them being time travellers.” Denki spoke up as he watched them enter the main building. Sero shook his head. “You’re on, fifty bucks they’re not!” he grinned and both boys sealed the deal with a handclap. Bakugo next to them scoffed, before returning his walk toward their dorms. “Doesn’t matter who these extras are, as long as they are dealt with. Fucking annoying.” he grumbled, the others trailing behind him.
