Chapter Text
Alec clenched his jaw and tried to ignore it. He’d been able to read people’s thoughts for years now and had got pretty good at tuning them out. A random Nephilim gift that had emerged when he was about thirteen. He’d got a handle on it after a few years, knowing how to brush the thoughts aside and block them from getting into his head. But for some unknown reason, there was something incredibly persistent about the sexual fantasies that kept tapping away at his head.
‘And the angels descended from on high and gave his chosen ones fantastic abs, because this man definitely has abs for days…abs I want to run my tongue all over…’
Alec nearly snorted in amusement as that one floated through and then remembered his frustration that he couldn’t tune them out.
They were in a Downworld Cabinet meeting. It had taken him several months’ worth of persistent negotiation to convince all the factions that his interest in opening communication between the groups was genuine and not just for show. It had taken even longer before that to argue with the Clave that it was important and very necessary to cultivate a positive relationship with the Downworld.
‘Mmmmm…if he tastes as divine as he looks…fuck, I’m getting hard just thinking about it…’
‘Those fingers…they’d look good disappearing up my ass…’
‘I’d stretch so wide and so good for him…’
Alec bit back a whine. He was so used to hearing people’s darkest, deepest thoughts, that he couldn’t quite work out why these were getting to him the way that they were. There was just something about the inner voice that slipped through him and straight down to places it shouldn’t.
‘Lilith, I want to see that pretty little mouth wrapped around my cock so bad…”
Alec blanched a little at that one, his eyes flying around the room in an attempt to find the culprit. Maybe scowl at them for testing his self-control. He knew they were thinking about Jace. They had to have been. They were all looking at him as he led the meeting. Alec might have planned it all out and written the agenda, but he wasn’t much of a talker. Plus, Jace was the shadowhunter that everyone knew. It made sense that he take the lead, at least to start.
There were three representatives for each shadow world group. Alec, Jace and Izzy stood for the Shadowhunters, while Luke, Maia and Alrich were there for the werewolves. Magnus Bane, Caterina Loss and Ragnor Fell had agreed to represent the Warlocks, and Raphael Santiago, Lily Chen and Elliot Williams were speaking for the vampires. Meliorn, Kieran and Nerissa were there on behalf of the Seelie realms. Alec knew the werewolves a little bit more than the rest, since Jace’s girlfriend Clary was Luke’s stepdaughter.
‘I wonder if he’d let me eat him out. And then fuck him.’
‘And then he could fuck me. And then we could do it all over again.’
‘Oh I’d fuck him so slow…and then nice and hard…and then really slow again. Uhhh…I can almost feel his cock inside me. Damn it. Those forearms look like they’re to die for…I bet he could pin me down for days. Such a pretty boy…’
‘A pretty boy with a pretty cock. You can’t be that fuckable up top without being just as fuckable down below. When I get home, I’m going to get so naked, and I’m going to think about him while I get all my toys and-’
“Okay!” Alec stood up abruptly, slamming his hands down on the table harder than he meant to. He cleared his throat and ignored the puzzled looks both Jace and Isabelle were shooting him. “In the interest of transparency, there’s something I need to tell you…”
Several of them shifted uncomfortably and more than one of them were thinking that Alec was about to tell them that all this had been too good to be true. One of them was still thinking about how Jace would look good tied to a bed.
“I can read minds,” Alec said quickly, wincing as everyone went very still and silent.
“Alec!” Jace hissed. “What the hell are you doing?! Not even the Institute or the Clave knows that!”
“Yeah, I know,” Alec muttered, but he was very aware that there was no way he was going to be able to sit in a meeting once a week with someone who very clearly thought they had better things to think about.
“So why the fuck would you tell them all that?!” Jace cried, flinging his arms out in exasperation.
“Because!” Alec cried, flinging his own arms up in the air. “Someone is very loudly thinking extremely explicit things about you!”
“And? I’m pretty sure it’s nothing you haven’t heard before?” Jace snapped, his frustration now warring with his smug pride.
“Yeah, by loud, I don’t mean easier to hear amongst all the rest, I mean really fucking loud, Jace,” Alec snapped back.
They both turned back towards the table to find nearly half the people sat around it staring at Magnus Bane.
“I will admit to the explicit thoughts,” he said, holding a perfectly manicured finger up as he tried not to smirk. He looked straight at Alec. “But I most certainly wasn’t thinking about Blondie.” ‘Pretty boy.’ He winked and Alec felt his jaw drop.
Jace snickered from beside him, clamping a hand on Alec’s shoulder.
“Magnus!” Caterina hissed from beside him.
“What? I wasn’t doing anything wrong!” Magnus said with a shrug. “Alec was the one who was reading my mind, without my permission…” He narrowed his eyes at the Shadowhunter.
Alec held his hands up, as placating a move as he could make. “I don’t do it on purpose!”
“Even so,” Caterina said, eyeing him suspiciously. “That gives you an unfair advantage over us now, doesn’t it? The things you could find out just because we’re thinking them puts us in more danger than ever…”
Jace shook his head. “Alec has never used his gift like that.”
“Most of the time it feels more like a curse,” Alec grumbled.
“And besides,” Izzy said, speaking up. “If the Clave knew about it, who knows what would happen to him. So really, he can’t use anything he overhears you thinking. There would be no proof.”
A lazy smile stretched across Magnus’s face as he watched the other Downworlders contemplate what Isabelle had said.
“I’m happy to distract Alexander, I don’t mind,” Magnus grinned. “I’m more than capable of thinking depraved thoughts whilst in his presence. It not hard.” ‘Well, actually, it is…if you catch my drift…?’
“Yeah, I do,” Alec huffed. “And you’re not funny.”
“Darling, I’m hilarious,” Magnus said, waving his comment away. ‘I’d rather do something other than make you laugh though…”
“You mean like piss me off, because you’ve done that already,” Alec growled.
Magnus smirked again and licked his lips. “I think you know I definitely don’t mean that.”
Alec groaned and was momentarily caught off guard again by Magnus’s train of thought surrounding that. “Can you not?”
“Can I not what?”
“Can you not think about sex? For at least the rest of this meeting?” Alec asked.
Magnus scoffed and gave him the most doubtful look. “Have you seen you? Like for real, have you looked in a mirror lately?”
Alec flushed, his face turning bright red. He rolled his eyes and tried to shake it off but he knew it hadn’t worked. He never did well with compliments, especially when it came to the way he looked. As far as he was concerned, with siblings like Jace and Isabelle, he was average at best and pretty much invisible at worst.
‘I wonder if that flush goes ALL the way down?’ Magnus chewed on his lip as he watched it crawl beyond the collar of Alec’s tatty old jumper.
“It does,” Alec murmured, meeting Magnus’s heated gaze with a dark one of his own. “Now stop. Or I’m going to leave and I’m not coming back.”
Magnus gaped at him and then laughed. “Fine,” he said. “But it’ll be much easier to do if you’re the one doing the talking. I can look at that pretty little mouth of yours and I promise I’ll pay attention to what it’s doing…” He blinked innocently up at him.
“Magnus!” Caterina cried, swatting at him in outrage.
“Shit, I said that last bit out loud, didn’t I?” Magnus said with a wince.
Alec laughed. “Yeah, you did. But if you promise you’ll actually pay attention to what I’m saying and not continue to think about what you’d rather my mouth be doing, we have a deal.”
