"Ugh, summer's awful." Yuu bemoaned, wiping the sweat off her brow, as she and Touko sat under the cool shade of the trees in the park. The sweltering heat was bad enough, especially in the middle of June, but there still was the prospect of exams.
That was just as bad.
"Definitely." Touko agreed, closing her eyes against the glare of the sun. She shifted herself next to Yuu, sharing the same spot as her at the base of the looming tree. The winds mercifully brushed by them, a nice contrast to the humid air of summer.
It was just her and Yuu, just the two of them. This was how it should be, no misunderstandings, no more running away from feelings, and especially without so much as a goodbye.
Yuu took a deep breath and sighed, the fresh air calming her nerves. "On the bright side, there is summer break coming up, but there's still school to get through first. That's no fun."
Touko nodded, and then placed her head on Yuu's shoulder. "Yeah, but you'll survive. We both will."
Yuu didn't object and placed her head on top of Touko's. "You're right about that. You know, summer's not looking too bad now, especially with you here."
Touko chuckled, smiling, and Yuu let out a soft laugh, their hands threading together.
