Bandit Heeler was sprawled out on the sofa watching the cricket, the house was unusually quiet- Chilli had taken Bingo to hockey and he was taking advantage of the peace and quiet to catch up on the test match which was evenly poised on Day 3
'Break this partnership and we can get right on top of them' He thought to himself, willing a wicket to fall.
All of a sudden the peace and quiet he was thoroughly enjoying was broken by the sound of his eldest daughter
"Daaaaaaaaaaad" Bluey called out as she bounded into the living room
"Yes mate?"
"Whatcha doin'?" She asked
"Watching the cricket. " He answered
"What about you?" He added, returning the question.
"Nothing… I'm BOOOORRRRREEEEDDDDD!!!" She replied, emphasising the last word loudly.
"Bluey! Volume squirt!" Bandit scolded.
"Did you play games with me when I was a baby?"
"Yeah, course I did"
"For real life?! What games did you play?"
"Ya know, the normal games, peek a boo, row row row your boat, wind the bobbing up"
"What was my favourite when I was a baby?" Bluey asked eagerly awaiting the answer.
"Oh that's easy… it was Daddy Death Grip" Bandit answered with a grin.
"How do you play it?"
"Like this… turn around" Bandit instructed. Bluey did as she was told and turned her back on her dad… he crossed her arms across her chest and wrapped his own arms around her. Lifting her off of the ground he began to gently swing her side to side.
"OH NO!! YOU'RE STUCK IN DADDY DEATH GRIP!" Bandit yelled happily while Bluey shrieked with laughter at her dad's game.
The laughter was so loud that neither Bandit or Bluey heard the front door open and Chilli and Bingo return home
"Oh no!! Not Daddy Death Grip!!" Chilli exclaimed, recalling her line from years gone by. Bingo ran over to her sister and dad
"Hey! I wanna go"
Immediately Bandit scooped her up and swung both girls side to side.
And like most afternoons the Heeler household was full of Bluey and Bingo's laughter.
