Chapter Text
Back at the beach with the others…
“I don’t think I’ve ever felt that bad before about an investigation…” Raven muttered, as she put her left paw gingerly over her stomach before turning to the others.
“It’s fine.” Monji said, as he continued to massage her back with a gentle paw.
“Well? Did anyone find the young Heeler?” Calypso called, as she walked back from the kitchen.
Alaska looked around. “Uh…” She then shrugged. “I think she’s around, but I haven’t seen her.” She said, as she sighed.
However, the Heelers then walked into view… “She was in our beach house.” Bandit said, as he held the paw of Bingo.
She looked rather distraught, as her ears were lowered, and she did look as if she was crying. Meanwhile, Bluey was trying to comfort her little sister with a small hug.
“What happened to her?” Bongji asked, as he looked up at Bandit.
“I dunno, I found her in the bathroom. She was saying something about not meaning to do something that wasn’t supposed to happen.” Bandit replied.
“What are you on about…?” Lucky replied, as the young Labrador looked up at them.
“I don’t know if she wants to tell anyone what happened, I’d rather not have to upset her at the moment.” Chilli added, as she nodded.
“No worries…It’s alright, as long as she’s okay I'm stress free.” Raven muttered, as she nodded slowly.
“Bingo is alright, don’t worry about that, just a little upset.” Bluey replied, as she looked around at her.
Bingo sniffed softly, and put an arm around her father’s. “…So is everyone ready to suffer in a trial room again?” Callie called, as she slowly walked back to the group.
“Definitely not.” Rachel shook her head. “I hate sitting in a trial room, it’s not as nice…” Yoji whispered, as he hugged Raven’s front legs.
She looked down at him, ruffling Yoji’s hair as she looked nervously around the group.
“Honestly, to Azar…Is this really necessary?” She whispered, standing up to walk with the group to the trial room.
She hadn’t noticed that her whole body was still shaking, even when she already had been shaking for a good few minutes.
“I don’t like sitting in the trial room…it reminds me of the day I lost her.” Raven muttered, as her eyes faltered.
“I don’t either, but…Raven, it’s for the best that we find out who killed Beemo.” Momo replied, putting a paw on Raven’s shoulder.
She…tensed at his touch. It wasn’t the exact reaction that Raven was expecting to have, though she still looked distressed and troubled.
“Nobody would’ve wanted this, not even his sister.” Raven muttered to herself. “His sister…?” Monji whispered, as he appeared at her side.
Raven jumped up in shock when she heard his voice, not expecting to hear him speak from that close to her.
Actually, Monji’s appearance was so sudden, that it almost gave her a heart attack.
“Geez, Monji…you almost gave me a heart attack.” Raven whispered, as she massaged her chest with a weary left paw, using it as a calming gesture to calm her heart down.
“Next time, maybe don’t talk so cl—“ She was interrupted when Ikari turned to her.
“Raven, can you be civil for once?! You’re worse than Hyuji.” Ikari snapped, as he glared down at her.
She quailed at his gaze, pressing herself to the ground as she did so, much like a cornered cat would when threatened with a predator.
“We all can’t be civil, Ikari…you’ve gotta listen-“ She gasped, as she looked into those fierce, red eyes.
“If someone dies--it’s not a laughing matter, Beemo’s death was…was a huge blow to us! We didn’t know th--that it was going to happen at like…lunch time!” She replied, as she stood up.
“Beemo’s death was a tragic loss.” Monji agreed. “…” Raven nodded slowly. “Why can’t you just lose that anger for once, and…” Her voice trailed off.
“And…” She whispered, struggling against her tongue to say something effective. “…I–“ Raven muttered, nervously picking up the pace as she walked.
“…Don’t say it, then.” Ikari growled, as he walked up to her, and he picked her up by the front of her cloak, while Shiawase, and Kanashimi stared in horror.
“Put her down.” Monji growled, as Ikari slowly glanced at him, before he lowered Raven onto the sand.
Ikari walked off, scoffing the other two heads now having an argument with him about his behavior.
Raven put her unsteady left paw wearily over her chest, where she’d been grabbed, adjusting her cloak as she heavily, and reluctantly bit back tears of humiliation.
“…Maybe I won’t, because I don’t know if you’ll believe me.” She whispered, holding a tearful shake in her voice, as she looked back around at Monji, her wide amethyst eyes now wet with unshed tears.
“I guess he’s right.” Raven muttered softly, as she slowly walked down the beach to the trial hall. The one place she dreaded being in.
“Raven, don’t think that.” Monji whispered, as he tried to reach out for her, but she was already miles ahead.
But it was only going to get much worse for them, as they all dreaded that walk to the trial room…The same feeling of dread hanging over the remaining participants like a heavy mist that was unbearably strong.
If the mist of dread was to fade, when would it? Nobody knew the answer to that question.
But a looming question hung over them, and that was…when will this agony end? When will it end? And how will it end?
Nobody really knew, unless somebody tried to escape the island, much like Mellow tried to attempt.
Raven sighed, as she approached the trial hall. She dreaded doing this. One thing she hated most was making a decision to hurt others in a trial.
Something about it just…felt wrong to her. Something deep inside, she felt a guilt in the pit of her stomach.
As they walked into the familiar, unfriendly trial room, they all sat down in their usual spots, on the pillows around the table.
“…” Raven looked up, weary eyed at Beemo’s portrait. She couldn’t help but sigh, as she cast her eyes upon Artemis’s.
Nor…could Raven handle looking at Starfire’s. She had to tear her eyes off it to stop herself from breaking down in tears.
It was hard enough for her, but hard enough for her to have to go through this trial process again. Even the others looked quite unhappy to be in this place again.
“…Are you sure you’re ready to do this…?” Raven muttered, as she nodded at Monji, who nodded back.
Soon enough, she noticed that everyone else slowly nodded in reluctance, as though the wrong decision would kill them.
“Now, start the trial, who’s going to talk about Beemo’s disappearance?” Bandit spoke up.
“Obviously, we all woke up, and found out that he wasn’t around when we got to the beach bar.” Chuchu rolled her eyes.
“Like, it’s not that hard to even think about, you mya.” Lala added, as she crossed her arms.
“But why wasn’t he at breakfast? He could’ve just slept in, unless he went off somewhere, or something.” Chi piped up.
“How long exactly was he gone for?” Chilli asked, as if she didn’t know the answer to the question.
“Something tells me that he was away for the afternoon, and came back for lunch.” Momo whispered, as he turned to look at her.
“…That’s a good point.” Alaska replied, as she cast her eyes upon him. “Where was he, exactly? A walk never takes that long.” She added.
“Speaking of which…Who was investigating his house at the time, then?” Nana asked, looking up as she had a sudden suspicion.
“…I don’t know if anyone investigated his beach house.” Raven muttered, as she closed her eyes to think.
“Raven, what…?” Nana turned, shocked. “You’re saying that nobody investigated his house?” She sounded astounded.
She nodded, as she tried to avoid Kocchi, and Ikari’s accusatory glares at her, as it made her feel rather nervous, and it only worsened her anxiety.
“…I…I don’t know, I was in the kitchen when we were investigating for evidence—“ Raven spluttered, as she turned to Nana.
“Raven, having you here in this room is exhausting, at this point, I could easily suspect that you’re behind this.” Kocchi whispered, as he glared at her.
“Kocchi-N—no, I—“ Raven suddenly began to panic, as she glanced at anyone for help, then back at Kocchi.
She suddenly realized, with a sudden tinge in her gut, that he may have forgotten about his forgiveness.
“Kocchi, can you give Raven a break, and just…stop?!” Audrey snapped, as she turned her fiery gaze onto him.
“…” He then went quiet, as he slowly met her gaze, and slowly nodded.
“…So why has nobody been to Beemo’s beach house, unless somebody went there during investigation, but never mentioned it?” Nana continued, as she looked away from Kocchi.
“Well that idea is busted, but was there anything in the kitchen that was out of place?” She asked, looking at the others, asking if they had anything.
“Well, we did find his body in the kitchen, so somebody must’ve stabbed him while we were all out in our own areas.” Aunt Trixie shrugged.
“Yes…but who?” Nana whispered, putting a paw to her chin as she narrowed her eyes in thought.
“DD thinks that the culprit may have gotten away before we got to the kitchen…don’t you think?” DD said, as he turned to look at her.
“Possibly, judging on…” Nana stopped when Raven raised a paw.
“…The pawprints I found?” She asked, as she recalled finding small pawprints in the kitchen, that lead out of the kitchen.
“They’re quite faint, don’t you think?” She whispered, as she turned to the others.
“…And didn’t they seem…” She thought for a moment.
“Odd?” Raven muttered, narrowing her eyes as she thought of the oddity of the pawprints she saw.
“…They were also…faint.” She added, as she rubbed her muzzle nervously.
It may not be as obvious to the others, or even Nana, but as she spoke, Raven began to sweat slightly out of the sheer amount of pressure she was under.
Plus…her heart rate also began to rise slightly as she took in a deep breath to calm herself down.
“…Good point.” Nana whispered, as she nodded at her. “Well, what about the knife rack?” Bongji added, as he turned to look at the others.
“What? That old thing that was on the wall?” Koko sighed, turning her attention onto him, as she viewed him from the corner of her eye.
“Why was it on top of Beemo? Wait, how was it on Beemo?” Bongji asked, as he turned to the others, looking at them in awe.
“Maybe it must’ve fallen on him…” Sia White replied, as she looked at him, then back at the others around the table.
“Yes… it may have fallen on him, the question is how, though?” Calypso quickly asked, putting a paw on her mouth as she thought.
“…Maybe someone accidentally knocked against it, or unscrewed it.” Experiment A replied bluntly.
“Wow, what a way to solve that.” Carrots rolled her eyes as she turned to look at Experiment A.
“What makes you say that? Have you literally seen a knife rack fall?” Elsa added sarcastically, rolling her eyes at her.
“No, but I’ve seen it on top of Beemo. We saw his body, well, maybe Raven has.” Experiment A snapped.
“Maybe tell her, as a necrophobic, that she should handle her fears better.” Experiment A whispered softly.
“…I’m sorry, what?” Monji cut in, his glare seemingly focused onto Experiment A, his eyes blazing.
“You heard me.” Experiment A growled.
“Okay, you know what…” Monji readjusted his collar and his glasses, and then he stood up, facing Experiment A.
Raven, noticing the oncoming fight, which she had been noticing for a while, visibly panicked and stood up, grabbing Monji, just as Bongji grabbed his other arm.
“No! This…won’t end in a fight!” Raven said, pulling at Monji’s arm, and as he tried to struggle out of her grip, she tightened her grip.
“We cannot start a fight…the trial just started!” Bongji growled, as Monji fought to get out of the two’s grip.
“Monji…please, don’t just attack Experiment A…” Raven whispered, trying to keep her grip on his arm.
She wasn’t sure why she was holding onto him so tightly; but she didn’t want him to attack Experiment A.
“Everyone, just shut it!”
The suddenness of the voice was so unexpected that it caused the struggling group to loosen their grip on Monji, as the trial room was sent into a full on silence.
“We can’t just start a fight just because somebody pointed out a small thing in someone.” Aunt Trixie said, shaking her head.
“Experiment A pointed out Raven’s necrophobia, how can anyone be alright with that?” Monji replied, trying to sound more casual and less infuriated.
“Stop going off topic!” Koko yelled, her voice echoing through the room, much like Aunt Trixie’s had, much like the crack of a belt being whipped.
“The knife rack was on top of Beemo, yes, but how could it have fallen? Surely there would’ve been checks to make sure it wasn’t loose.” She added, with a slight look at Roy.
“If it had to be loose, why would they leave such an obvious mistake behind?” Beco asked.
“Well, someone must’ve noticed that simple mistake, yet why didn’t he?” Snickers snapped.
“Uhg…Kid, you’re much smarter than that.” Sia White scoffed, turning in his direction with a roll of her eyes.
“Yes, you’re young and naive; but…are you truly sure that someone with superior eyesight could’ve easily seen the loose knife rack?” Ikari added.
“…Surely not…” Judo added, looking at the others.
“Kids shouldn’t even be allowed in trial rooms.” Milo White growled, turning to his sister, who agreed.
“Hey, at least give them a chance.” DD replied, as he turned to Milo and Sia.
“They may be…’young and naive’, but they should at least be included.” TT agreed, nodding her head.
“Well…I mean, fine.” Ikari rolled his eyes irritably. “Ikari? Why are you being so rude?!” Shiawase snapped.
“Because kids never learn about trials.” Ikari said, turning to him.
“And? They can at least help us in trials.” Chuchu said, shaking her head with a small scoff of disapproval.
“Yeah, that’s what you think.” Sia White growled.
“What about the shopping Beemo bought?” Blackie cut in.
“He bought us stuff, didn’t he? We checked the shop, and from what we saw, a few things were off the shelves.” Chi nodded.
“Okay, I believe you…What exactly did he buy, can you tell us?” Raven asked.
“Well…” Blackie looked down at the list he wrote.
“He bought some fruit, bread, butter…and some canned goods, deli meats, and pasta.” Blackie added, placing the list onto the table.
Raven paused for a moment, as she picked up the list to read through it for herself.
“Oookay…” Raven took a deep breath.
“If he bought this stuff, then he must’ve been planning a big lunch for us all.” She said, as she looked up from the list at the two.
“Then why didn’t he pick up anything else? Surely he must’ve known what else to buy.” Esteban asked.
“Well, maybe he had enough mouths to feed, so he just…went with it.” Raven muttered, sounding a little nervous as she spoke.
“I mean, he can hardly carry all that…”
She looked down, hoping that her paranoia wouldn’t show on her face.
Unfortunately for her, the visible signs of anxiety and paranoia could not be more evident in her face, but rather it appeared visible in her eyes.
“He must’ve bought something else, and yet you both didn’t check?!” Kocchi snapped, as he turned to Chi and Blackie.
Raven flinched and tensed slightly at the sound of his voice, almost as if she was caught off guard.
She also seemed to shake her head nervously as if his voice had cut through her ears and…triggered her.
This seemed to have unsettled her just slightly, before Raven regained her composure and listened again.
“…That’s all they wrote down.” Raven muttered, her voice shaking as she spoke.
“We even checked the aisles!” Chi protested.
“Yeah, plus…if something was out of place, we would’ve told you all about it. We wouldn’t stay quiet about it.” Blackie sighed.
“We couldn’t really find anything in the kitchen.” Audrey said, turning to Bongji.
“Nothing at all?” Bandit looked at the two, almost as if he was asking them who was right and who was wrong.
“No.” Bongji shook his head.
“But there had to be…” Nox shook his head, sighing in disappointment.
“Well, did you look hard enough?!” Hyuji snapped.
“Hyuji, I’m certain he did, surely there’s a reason why he looked hard enough.” Raven whispered, nodding slowly in his direction.
She gave him a curt nod, before she returned to her normal, nervous demeanor.
“Well; the kitchen must’ve had something there, after all that’s where we investigated, right?” Audrey asked.
“After all, people did investigate in different areas of the island.” She added.
“…Hold on, weren’t one of the kids missing?” Lala suddenly piped in.
“…Actually, yes.” Hyuji added, as he nodded in response to what she had said, before Calypso could say anything else.
“But why would one of them not show up?” Chuchu asked.
“I guess something must’ve happened, but whatever happened; mightn’t be linked to the murder.” Bang’ul shrugged.
“But wouldn’t that sound way too obvious? It’s almost as if—“ Mellow was then cut off by Yoji.
“Not possible, anyone would have ran when they did the murder!” Yoji snapped in response.
Then, he suddenly stood up, and pressed a button on his bracelet.
Yoji activated the discussion detest against Mellow!
Mellow
“Impossible! Running makes you look responsible for the murder, doesn’t it?!”
Yoji
“In some ways, it can, but how can you expect someone to just stay at the scene?!”
Mellow
“Not if you think hard enough.”
Yoji
“Well, don’t ask me, I didn’t even mention anything about the murder scene, did I?”
Mellow
“No, you didn’t, but do explain one thing.”
Mellow
“Then explain the broken knife rack!”
Connection made!
“The knife rack was broken at the time of the attack, Yoji.” Rachel rolled her eyes as she spoke.
“What do you think happened, Korean-speaking cotton ball?” She added with a slight grimace in his direction, which he returned.
“…Excuse me, golden retriever, or, rather, Rachel, why not speak to someone else your size like that?” Raven snarled.
Rachel wanted to protest, but she quickly sat back down in defeat.
“But wouldn’t they check the rooms carefully for any broken furniture?” Kongji asked.
“Surely there’s a reason why the knife rack was broken for a specific reason…” She whispered.
“Perhaps it must’ve been broken by accident.” Bang’ul replied with a slight shrug, but he sounded unsure and confused.
“Broken by accident? Why would anyone break a knife rack by accident like that, though? Even if they knew that it would be seen by us.” Momo shrugged.
“Well…it had to be loosened for a reason.” Monji shrugged, as he adjusted his glasses.
“Somebody must’ve just done it so they could plan the whole murder.” Bongji added.
“Why would anyone even plan it in the first place?” Judo asked. “Mind telling me?” She added.
“Duh! Obviously, we would’ve seen it if it was on a security camera, or someone would’ve walked into the kitchen!” Fragmentation shook her head in irritation.
“Obviously, we found it like that when we got to the scene.” Rosy sighed, as if she was tired of trying to explain the matter to the group.
“Mhm…” Lucky nodded, as she nudged Rachel.
“Finding it like that was something we could put into light, ya know.” She said, looking around at the group hopefully.
“But…if someone had to have any intentions of unscrewing a knife rack…why would they even try in the first place?” Alaska asked.
“It must’ve been unscrewed so it can be broken.” Chilli shrugged.
“Then would foul play be involved?” Atlas suddenly piped in, looking up as he had the opportunity to mention his observation.
“Well…maybe.“ Bongji turned, as he cast a glance on him.
“Well, it’s…possible, isn’t it? Foul play does sound like a good point, but from who, exactly…?” Raven muttered, as she glanced nervously at the others.
“Everyone knows that foul play has to play a part in something.” She added curtly.
“…Surely we would’ve seen someone playing someone acting suspiciously, it’s not like—“
…She was suddenly interrupted by the slamming of a fist on the table, causing her to jump in alarm.
Kocchi suddenly stood up, glaring Raven down, and making her progressively more nervous as she quailed at his gaze, which was directed right at her.
She pinned her ears against her head, and she even held her tail closer to her body as she tried to avert her eyes from his.
Then, without hesitation, he looked at his bracelet, and pressed a button on it.
Kocchi activated the discussion detest against Raven!
“H—hold on, don’t just use discussion detest against me…please.” Raven raised her sweaty, shaky paws in surrender.
Kocchi
“How do you know that foul play plays a part in this? Are you saying that somebody, or you played a role in this?!”
Raven
“…”
Kocchi
“Can’t say your opinion, can you now?”
Raven
“…Let me explain this—all I’m saying is that…whoever mentioned foul play being used in this murder…might have a point—”
Kocchi
“Moth and Atlas? Come on, those two do know that they suspect foul play, but not in a way you do.”
Raven
“I…well, I’m not someone to argue with…but hear me out…please, just stop jumping down my throat-“
Kocchi
“Yes, fine, there might’ve been foul play, but how can you tell, Raven?”
Raven
“…Because why would somebody…unscrew the knife rack while Beemo was making us the surprise lunch?“
Sage interrupted with a new piece of evidence!
Sage
“Then can one of you explain the orange furs?!”
Raven’s eyes widened; and she swore that she felt her racing heart skip a beat or two.
Did she hear that correctly, or was she suddenly hearing it incorrectly?
Raven
“WH—The…O—orange fur?—when did this-“
Kocchi
“Sorry, what? Did you say, orange fur?…“
Sage
“Yes, I did.”
Raven
“…“
Kocchi
“And you have to tell us this now?!“
Sage
“I had to wait till the last second!”
Raven
“…“
Kocchi
“Keh, that was…not expected.“
Connection made!
For a moment, the whole room went silent, as the deafening silence pressed down on the whole room.
As they all stared blankly at Sage, they soon realized what she had really meant.
“You had to tell us this now?!” Sia gasped. “And why, now?!” She turned to her.
Raven was still immobilized by sudden shock, but still, her heart still raced in her chest.
(She was probably breathing quite heavily too, but she couldn’t tell if this was the case or not.)
She could not stop herself from freaking out, but then again, she took a deep breath to calm herself and her racing heart.
“Because me and Alaska found a few hairs.” Sage rolled her eyes in annoyance.
“We found them on the ground.” Alaska added.
“…Right.” Edge nodded his head.
“You found fur, and now you tell us this?” He looked at her.
“Well? I had to say something.” Sage snapped, as she turned to look at him.
Still, the silence was heavy, but she still ranted on.
“Look, I had to find that piece of fur…because I needed the time, alright?!” Sage sounded exasperated and annoyed.
“…Well? Are you going to look for suspects?” Ikari asked.
“That’s your choice, not mine.” Monji replied, sounding irritable.
“…Lining up people with orange fur is going to be a challenge, but will hopefully help us find out who the culprit is.” Willow sighed.
“…Is this really necessary again…?” Raven muttered, as she looked up, after a moment of her being silent.
She had been dreading this, but she supposed that in order to get to the bottom of this investigation, she’d have to participate.
Her participation may not be enough, but she wanted the others to get to the bottom of the issue as quickly as possible.
The faster they deal with this, the better she can focus on getting herself back into the safety of her bedroom.
She was probably going to make the wrong choice; like the time she had to kill off her girlfriend for an awful reason.
Raven visioned herself having to kill off one of her closest friends or family.
And the thing about that thought was that…the more she imagined it, the more it caused her eyes in the vision to fill with tears.
Suddenly, Raven was jolted back to earth when someone called out.
“Line up, then!” Rachel yelled, pointing at whoever had orange fur in the group, her eyes hardening as she eyed whoever didn’t move fast enough.
‘Oh Azar…Why am I crying…’
Raven thought, as she looked at the group of orange furred participants, her ears pinning against her head as Audrey and Kongji stood up.
This only put her teary-eyed gaze on Monji, who was looking ahead at the group of orange furred volunteers.
“…I did not want to sign up for this; never did I think of putting my life, or anybody else’s lives on the line for this kind of torture.”
Raven whispered, as her body and voice suddenly began to shake with tears.
“…Nobody wanted this.” Hyuji whispered, as he turned to look at Audrey and Kongji with concern.
Raven felt her heart ache as she looked at Chilli and Bingo, who both had orange fur.
Plus, her stomach churned when she saw Bang’ul, and Calypso.
“Is there any other choice for this?” She whispered, adjusting her cloak with a small sigh.
“No, Raven, we can’t avoid our…horrible decisions.” Blackie replied, as he turned to look at her.
“…” She nodded, biting her tongue as she fought against every single thought that was the one cause of her tears.
“…Just find out who’s fur it is, so I don’t have to stay here in this agonizing situation.” Raven muttered, closing her eyes and lowering her ears.
Sighing, she looked up as Sage walked up to the group, putting the fur against whoever had orange fur.
“…They’re bound to find a match.” Monji whispered, as he looked at the group.
“Oh, Monji…they always do, trust me.” Raven muttered, nodding with her teary eyes still closed.
(She was obviously remembering, traumatically, the time when her girlfriend was caught out for being a blackened.)
“…And it won’t be as easy as I think.” She whispered, opening her eyes to look at Monji.
With the prospect of knowing what might happen next, Raven had huge amounts of dread that kept coming in waves.
And suddenly, Sage stepped back in confusion. “…But who’s the real killer, then?!” She gasped.
She pointed at both…Bingo, and Audrey, who both seemed to have the same shade of orange fur.
Raven’s heart skipped a beat, not because of how fearful she felt, but because of the fact that Audrey was being called out for nothing.
For a moment, Raven remained silent, as did the rest of the trial room.
And then, Audrey stepped forward, looking angry and shocked.
“You don’t understand!” Audrey gasped, narrowing her eyes at Sage, who looked at her in confusion.
“…I did nothing, and you’re trying to frame me?…” She laughed, as she turned to the others.
“They don’t think I did anything, but…” She looked at Sage again.
“You’re blaming me, and a child?” She looked at Bingo, who looked back at her.
“…That also happens to be my daughter!” Chilli growled, turning to Audrey.
“Fair argument!” Audrey snapped, as she looked around at her. She was bristling with anger and frustration.
Raven’s ears pressed against her head, as she was beginning to realize what was about to happen.
“Everyone else here will die anyway! Whether the decision was right or wrong!” Chilli snapped back, slamming her paw off the table.
“How can that be, then?” Bang’ul replied, crossing his arms as he turned to look at her.
“Beemo was killed during our special lunch, but you can’t prove anything?” He added, looking at her with suspicion.
“You calling me a liar?” Chilli snarled, as she pushed her husband’s paw off of her shoulder.
‘Oh, please…stop…’ Raven thought, as she looked down, shaking her head.
She wasn’t liking all of the arguing, it reminded her horribly of when her parents would always argue when she was in her room as a child.
