Not to brag, but Gyuvin was kind of a big deal in the streaming community.
He’s still not very sure why- he started streaming because his best friends, Han Yujin and Park Gunwook started a new Minecraft server and Gyuvin wanted to record down their memories and jokes, then one day he just kind of... woke up with over thirty-thousand followers, then sixty-thousand, then one-hundred thousand... He’s long moved on from just Minecraft videos now, playing various different popular games like Valorant or Genshin Impact, but while his personal favorite were some type of role-play game like Life is Strange or The Last of Us or something calming like Unpacking, his viewers’ favorite streams were always the ones he did with his friends.
It’s not like Gyuvin was particularly good at the video games he did– he was just– Gyuvin. And people apparently enjoyed watching his content. There was just something– Gyuvin didn’t know what, but somehow, people were drawn to him. And Gyuvin was eternally grateful for that.
Gunwook told him that people always found him interesting since his personal life was rarely found intertwined with his online presence. So, Gyuvin tested that theory by telling his viewers every now and then a fun fact about himself or a funny story about his friends to keep them entertained and happy.
And surprisingly, it worked. The clips of Gyuvin talking about his friends, or about him in general would get passed around and go on trending, and his popularity grew faster than ever.
“‘Gyuvin, do you have a pet? You seem like a dog person.’ I do, actually. And it is a dog, how did you guys know?” Gyuvin laughs at his chat while customizing his Sims character. “It’s name is Eumppappa, because that was my first ever word.”

Gyuvin was about to retort to his chat’s taunts when his phone started ringing. Usually, it wasn’t unusual for his phone to ring during a stream– sometimes his friends (usually Gunwook and Yujin) would call him to play with him, or do talking streams and joke around. This time however, the viewers noticed Gyuvin smile at his phone and mute his mic, turning his chair around so the viewers couldn’t see his face.

When Gyuvin turns his chair around, his eyes widen into that face that has been used as memes everywhere by his fans. “Guys, I don’t have a girlfriend. But what the fuck do you mean I’m chronically online? I go out a lot, guys…” he trails off, glaring at the screen.

Gyuvin laughs, reading out that specific comment while all the other comments continue to disagree with his statement. “Whatever guys, I guess I’ll stop streaming for today… and no, it’s not because you guys suddenly brought up how long I stream for,” he laughs.
“It’s pretty late here anyway,” he saves his progress and stretches out his arms, feeling sore. “Bye everyone! Thank you for tuning in, I love you all!”
“Without me, you would be chronically online,” Gyuvin hears his boyfriend say the second he enters their shared bedroom.
“Rickyyyy,” Gyuvin whines, joining his boyfriend who was currently on their bed, scrolling on his phone. He lets Ricky's head into the crook of his own neck, fitting perfectly, and Ricky’s arm naturally finds itself around Gyuvin’s waist. “That’s not true!”
“It so is,” the art student raised a perfect eyebrow up. “You wouldn’t have come to bed if I didn’t call you over,” he says while shutting off his phone and hugging Gyuvin closer. “Go get changed and wash up, I’m tired.”
“Alright,” Gyuvin says, standing up but not before giving Ricky a chaste kiss on his forehead. “Whiny baby.”
When Gyuvin leaves their bedroom to the bathroom, he hears grumbling from behind him and he can’t help but smile.
Gyuvin was so, so lucky to have him.
Gyuvin was live once again, playing Overcooked with Gunwook and trying to get three stars on a level. When they failed yet again, he felt his phone buzz, and muted his stream microphone. Gunwook thankfully gets the memo when Gyuvin turns his chair around yet again, talking to his chat for him while his mic stays muted.

Gyuvin chooses to unmute and turn around at that time, reading out the most recent comment. “‘I’m new, what’s going on?’ Well, Gunwook and I are about to fucking crush the next level, that’s what’s going on!”
Gunwook laughs, agreeing and moving their camping car ingame to the next level. The comments don't stop, however, all theorising until Gyuvin accidentally burns the rice, leading to the chat to laugh at Gunwook’s misery, quickly forgetting about the caller.
Gyuvin isn’t streaming today but instead, he’s on his friend Matthew’s new Minecraft server, one of his monitors showing his gameplay and the other playing Matthew’s stream. Yujin’s character is already holding a stone sword when Gyuvin logs on the server, and Yujin hits him once, depleting almost half of his health.
“Yujinnie! What the hell!” Gyuvin whines, half annoyed but half fond.
“Gyuvinnie!” Gyuvin sees Matthew’s in-game character crouch in front of him, and Gyuvin crouches back. “Why did you change your skin?”
When Gyuvin looks over to his other monitor playing Matthew’s stream, he belatedly remembers Ricky playing Minecraft using his account yesterday, and whenever Ricky plays on his account, he likes to change his skin to fit his outer appearance. So, instead of Gyuvin’s regular character of brown haired, blue jeans and a red-white striped sweater, it’s a description of Ricky with bleached hair, a leather jacket and chains.
Gyuvin knows that Matthew and Yujin know that this is Ricky’s usual skin and Matthew’s just trying his best to cover up for Gyuvin. “I was playing by myself yesterday, and this is the skin I use when I play public games,” Gyuvin says, trying to sound nonchalant.
Yujin attempts to laugh, but it sounds like he’s choking. “That's smart, hyung, since it doesn’t look like you specifically,” he finishes with a cough.

Gyuvin ignores the accusations happening in Matthew's chat, opting to comment on the gameplay instead. He hears Matthew attempt to suppress a laugh and his character following his own. However, the chat doesn’t stop, all theorizing about Gyuvin’s potential ‘girlfriend’ until Yujin somehow obtained a flint-and-steel and started burning the forest down.
Once more, the issue was immediately ignored, everyone opting to laugh about Yujin chasing Gyuvin down ingame, the 'girlfriend' quickly forgotten yet again, just as quickly as they had been to jump on it.
The chat realized, with time, that this mysterious caller was not a one-time, two-time or even three-time occurrence.
Again and again, a mysterious caller would call in the middle of Gyuvin’s streams, and without fail, Gyuvin would light up, turn around, his chair facing his webcam as he talked to the stranger. Whenever he turned back into frame, his mood would always be significantly better, and his smile would always look more genuine. He would crack more jokes than usual, be more charming and to say these clips weren’t spread around would be a lie.

Gyuvin’s ‘girlfriend’ became one of the most trending topics on the Internet, many choosing to theorize and speculate who it was. They would find pictures of any girl they could find standing next to Gyuvin, stalking his social media to find a clue. When Gyuvin never answered to any of these theories, the Internet was starting to think that the ‘girlfriend’ was never real, and it was just an ongoing joke that Gyuvin and his friendgroup had.
Just when Gyuvin and his friends started getting backlash for ‘lying’ for the cameras, Gyuvin’s phone rang once again during one of his Genshin streams. The chat freaked out while Gyuvin smiled at his phone, turning his chair around. In his excitement, he forgot to mute his stream mic.
“Gyu,” a deep, throaty voice was heard from the phone, unlike what the viewers theorized. “I forgot my USB that contains my presentation on the dining table, can you help me get it and deliver it for me?”
“Hmmmm,” Gyuvin’s voice is teasing, and the chat explodes. Sure, Gyuvin was someone who some people considered dramatic , but no one had ever heard him speak with so much affection and enthusiasm in his voice before. “What do I get from it?”
“Well, Gyu, your boyfriend will get a good grade on his very important assignment,” the voice states, deadpan and the chat starts going crazy at the word ‘boyfriend’.
“Finee… just for you, Rui,” Gyuvin’s voice is teasing. “I’ll go after I end the stream. I love you.” His voice was warm, and it was easy to see that he was very fond of the other person.
“I love you too. Now hurry the fuck up, Junhyeon’s getting maaad,” The other voice states, and Gyuvin chuckles before hanging up.
The streamer turns around, smiling and arranging his ending segment in his head until he notices the button to mute himself was never off, and was on during the entire conversation.

Fuck, fuck, FUCK, Gyuvin thinks and ends the stream without saying anything.
Gyuvin hasn’t streamed ever since what Yujin has dubbed ‘The Incident™’, which was unusual for him. Gyuvin usually streamed every two to three days, and it had been nearly a week and a half since he’d gone live. When the viewers finally got a notification that Gyuvin had gone live, they’d all excitedly clicked on, waiting for what he would say.
Especially on a stream that was fondly named by Taerae ‘spilling the beans’. (Ricky hated it, but Gyuvin found it absolutely hilarious)
The viewers clicked on the stream, seeing Gyuvin wait for more people to join as per usual. After a few minutes he started speaking up. “I’m sure you’ve all seen the clips that have been circling around,” he starts, and exhales. “Well, there is no girlfriend, sorry to disappoint everyone,” Gyuvin finishes while someone walks into frame.
“I do have a boyfriend though,” Gyuvin looks behind the camera while the newcomer sits down at Gyuvin’s lap, Gyuvin’s arm naturally finding his waist. “This is Shen Ricky. Sorry to disappoint you all and lead you on about a fake girlfriend. I’m bisexual.”
The dubbed boyfriend looked into the camera, getting backhugged by Gyuvin as he read the chat for the first time. “This is so different, sitting here when you’re streaming.”
“Is it?” The viewers see Gyuvin’s side profile, eyes warm and tone softened.

All in all, the live went pretty well. Everyone in chat was very supportive, joking around about how they all thought it was a girlfriend and Matthew, Yujin and Gunwook even joined during the middle of it, telling funny stories to the chat about Gyuvin and Ricky. Gyuvin could already see all the clips on Twitter tomorrow.
And just as Gyuvin expected, everyone did go a little crazy when they realized Ricky was not only rich, but an art student in one of the most prestigious universities in the world as well.
When Ricky had to go and rush to his next class, Gyuvin decided to continue streaming for a bit, logging onto his Minecraft Singleplayer.
“Yes, the weird skin I had during Matthew’s first stream on his multiplayer was one of Ricky,” he was telling chat. “Thank the heavens Matthew covered for me back then,” Gyuvin laughs as he reminisces. Gyuvin decided to read the chat while Minecraft was booting up, and raised an eyebrow at some of the comments.
