This is what she was supposed to want, wasn't it? To fit in the box, to have the husband, the kids, the birthday parties and the sporting events and the family vacations to Disney World. It's what Pete wanted. It's what her mother wanted, and her mother was plenty happy.
But mom was not around to ask.
