Mulder and Scully were staying over at Maggie’s house for some much needed rest after dealing with Donnie Pfaster for the final time. Mulder thought it would be good for Scully to get away for the weekend so he suggested that she stay with her mother for some TLC. But the only way she would stay with her mother’s place if he stayed too.
“I don’t think that is such a good idea.” Mulder said as Scully was packing.
“Mulder my mom knows about us.” Scully stop packing to look at Mulder.
“She does? And she’s okay with that?” Mulder was little taken back.
“She’s fine with it, in fact she said it was about damn time. Her words not mine.”
“But are you sure you want me there with you at your mother’s?” Mulder ask making sure Scully is comfortable with having him there at her mother’s.
Scully walked over to Mulder sitting on her bed and said, “I need you with me, Mulder.”
“Then I will be there with you.” Mulder said and gave a quick kiss on her forehead.
After Scully finished packing, they quickly headed over to Mulder’s apartment for him to pack a bag for a weekend stay at Maggie’s. While Mulder was packing she called her mother to let her know that both she and Mulder will be staying over for the weekend. She also told her a little bit of the case they just finished, only that they had run into an old criminal from their early years on the X-Files.
When they arrived at Maggie’s she greeted both of them with a warm hug and kiss. She noticed Dana’s split lip and the little cut above her eye but chose not to comment.
“Dana, Fox I’m so glad you’re here. I have fixed up Dana’s old bedroom. Why don’t you two go upstairs for a nap until dinner is ready?”
“Thanks mom.” Dana said hugging her mom again.
“Thank you, Mrs. Scully.” Mulder said too.
“Oh Fox, it’s Maggie. Now you two go rest now. Oh and Dana your brother Bill is here.” Maggie said as she turns around to go back into the kitchen to continue fixing dinner.
“Mom!?” Scully tries to get her mother’s attention.
“Yes dear?” Maggie asks all so innocently.
“You knew he was here when I call didn’t?”
“Maybe.”
“Mom!”
“Dana he just pop in for a visit since he’s here in town for a meeting. Everything will be fine, now you go up and rest now.”
Scully started up the stairs with Mulder behind her carrying their bags when she mumble, “I’m going to kill her.”
“Oh Scully, it won’t be that bad.” Mulder try to calm Scully.
“Mulder, have you not met my brother?”
“Okay, maybe I should leave then.” Mulder said as he faked to go back down the stairs.
“Don’t you dare, if I have to face my brother this weekend so do you.”
When Bill came back home after getting the wine his mother asked for, Maggie took him aside to let him know Dana was staying the weekend too.
“Dana just got here a half hour ago, she upstairs resting.”
“Dana’s here, well that’s great mom.”
“There’s something else…Fox is here too.”
“What?! What is that sorry son of a bitch doing here? Bill was furious now.
“Bill, language. And he’s my guest and you will be respectful towards him this weekend.”
“WHAT? He’s staying here the whole weekend?”
“Yes, now be quiet, because here they come.”
Scully and Mulder were just walking into the dining room where Maggie and Bill were settling the table for dinner.
Dana went over to greet and hug Bill, “Bill, what a nice surprise to see you. How are Tara and Matthew doing?”
Bill hugged Dana back but couldn’t help to see the split lip and cut on her face, “They’re fine. And how are you?”
“Just a little bruised, but fine.” Scully said knowing Bill saw her injured face.
“Yeah, thanks to him probably.” Bill said looking over at Mulder with a murderous look in his eyes.
“Dana, Fox why don’t you two have a seat while Bill and I bring out dinner.” Maggie intervenes.
Maggie practically pushed Bill into the kitchen. “Look Bill, Dana doesn’t need any mess with you, she and Fox are here to rest for the weekend. I don’t need or want you to harass them okay?”
“Fine, but what he is doing here anyway?”
“Your sister wanted him here and that is the end of it.”
Once things were settled over at dinner, Maggie led most of the conversation. Bill did give an update on Tara and Matthew and just he couldn’t resist on asking about Dana’s face.
“So Dana, mom said that you are here to rest this weekend. Does it have anything to do with what has happened to your face?”
Knowing Bill won’t let it go, Scully just answered, “We just got finished with a difficult case and our suspect got a little rough that I just thought I could use a little break here at mom’s.”
“So what’s he doing here then?”
“I ask him to Bill, okay.” Scully was getting a little upset with her brother and hoping that will be the end of it.
“But why does he need to stay here Dana?”
“Because I need him to, besides you wouldn’t understand.” Scully whisper that last part.
“Fine, explain it to me!” Bill kept on insisting.
“Because he’s my boyfriend and I wanted to spend time with my mother and my boyfriend not thinking about the evil man that attacked me in my apartment okay. Are you happy now?” Scully stood up from the table to look at her brother nodding his head and then walked away.
Mulder excuse himself and went after Scully while Maggie gave Bill the death look.
“They’re together together?” Bill asked his mother.
“Yes, and it’s fairly new.”
“And you knew? How can you approve this?”
“Bill, it’s not for me to approve or disapprove. Your sister is happy with Fox and you need to accept that or you’re going to lose your sister.”
Mulder found Scully outside sitting on the porch, he sit next to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulders for her to lean against.
“Are you okay?” Mulder asked.
“I am now. Sorry I blurred out about how relationship like that to my brother. I just so sick of him sometime, always picking on you.”
“You have nothing to apologize for and just for the record…I’m your boyfriend now?” Mulder said with a huge smile on his face.
“Mulder, shut up.” Scully said as Mulder kissed her on the forehead.
