Work Text:

"Do you think he'll like it?" Clint looked up at Tony, who stood next to him in the elevator. The genius just grinned at him, giving his shoulder a light pat.

"Baby spy, you look great. Please, did you think I would come up with something not perfect? It's a compliment, he'll love it."

Clint looked down at himself, ran his hand over the front of the shirt and looked at his left hand. He turned it over and back, flexed his fingers a few times. He and Tony had kept this secret for so long, all he wanted was for Bucky to like his costume. Bucky had offered so many different costumes. He could have even had a Stitch costume, but he had wanted this one. Tony had helped, and Jarvis as well.

He nodded and hugged Tony's middle, smiling widening as he squeezed him as hard as possible.

"Thank you, Tony."

"No problem, baby spy. Halloween is our thing." He gave Clint's back another pat before the door of the elevator opened and they entered the suite together.

Clint couldn't help the nervousness he felt, but he was still bouncing when he approached the living room where he knew the rest of the adults were waiting.

Pepper saw him first. Her eyes went wide and she covered her mouth with her hand. Her surprised “ Oh my God” had everybody else turning around, but Clint only had eyes for Bucky. Looking at him, he raised his left hand and gave his best impression of Bucky's lopsided smirk.

"Hi."

"And he kept it a secret till now?"

Steve looked at Pepper and took a sip from his drink.

"Not a single word. I tried to find out, but he insisted he had it all covered."

Bucky, who stood next to Steve, raised a brow. Normally Tony liked a bit of bragging, and not much could ever go past his personal assistant. Whatever it was that he and Clint had come up with, must have been something very special. Clint had even refused to accept the Stitch costume, the Ninja suit, and even the perfect replica of Steve's Captain America suit that he usually admired so much.

Tony's Halloween party had become an annual thing. A costume party with dinner, horror movies all through the night, and an endless supply of snacks and drinks. Bucky was dressed as a vampire, as basic as possible. Steve had gone for the scientist style, very much to Bruce's amusement. Trusting Tony to not go overboard with something like a full on Iron Man suit in Clint's size had been a challenge, but Clint had been excited, so they had allowed it.

Thirty minutes after dropping Clint off at Tony's workshop, Jarvis announced that the genius and Clint were on their way up to them.

"If it's an Iron Man suit, I swear…"

"He wouldn't do that. He's not that irresponsible. Clint said he had an idea. Calm down, Buck…" Steve gave him a light nudge and a wink.

Pepper's gasp had them both spinning around.

Bucky just…stared. His heart did a leap in his chest, and all words left his mind.

"Hi."

His eyes moved up and down Clint, taking in every detail of what he called his costume. His sight went tunnel vision for a moment, everything swimming out of focus except Clint  he would have never expected that. His eyes never leaving Clint, Bucky approached him, knelt down in front of him and tried to find his voice again. His chest felt tight and fluttery with joy at the same time. He brought his hand up and ran his fingers through Clint's now brown hair.

"No worries, Robocop, that's temporary. It washes out after two washes or so," Tony provided with a smirk. Bucky didn't even look at him. He was way too captured by the sight of Clint. He was…

Well…he was Bucky.

He wore a perfect replica of Bucky's favorite shirt, his favorite washed out jeans and even the exact same boots. It was obvious that he was trying to imitate him, but what made the appearance so perfect…was his left arm. Bucky reached out and Clint held his arm out to see. It must have been some kind of tight fitting glove, but it looked exactly like Bucky's arm. Every single plate. It looked so real, Bucky had to run his fingertips over Clint's arm.

"Tony made it… you like it?" Clint sounded unsure, his voice small. "You… you said I can be something… something I really really like… and… "

"You're me," he breathed out. Clint nodded, then moved his foot forward and pulled the pants leg up a bit.

"Look…it's your boots… they look really cool, and--"

"You're.. me…," he breathed again and this time it ended in a short laugh. His face brightened up, disbelief mixed with pride and delight. He pulled him into his arms the next second, and Clint hugged him back, holding onto him tightly.

"Love you, Pa. I… I wanted to be like you…"

Bucky couldn't describe what he felt, but as he held Clint tightly, his eyes went up to Tony. With one hand he signed a thank you to him. He wasn't even surprised when Tony signed back anything for the kid. They all had been learning more sign language for Clint.

"Your costume is amazing," he finally whispered to Clint. "I love you, too, buddy."
