Tintin is getting ready for something, standing in front of a mirror and fixing his hair. Haddock is sitting in a chair nearby, sipping from a glass.
"You can tell me where you're going, you know that, right?" He half-grumbles, holding the glass up to his mouth.
"You just have to assume nothing," Tintin shrugs, buttoning up his shirt. He reveals nothing, no clues, no hints, as to what's going on or where he could be going.
"Assume nothing?" Haddock splutters, "What do you mean by that? You're dressing up all fancy and won't even tell me what's going on!"
Tintin shrugs again, infuriatingly, putting on his dress jacket. "Just don't assume anything, that's it." He turns around and speedwalks toward the door, patting his pockets.
"Tintin, this cannot be some silly scheme of yours-"
Tintin suddenly turns back around, walks over to a side table, opens a drawer and pulls out a small black box. "Almost forgot the ring." He smiles innocently, leaving the room and likely the entire house.
"Blistering barnacles!" He exclaims, to himself, in the empty room.
Assume nothing?
Is he supposed to just assume nothing after that display?
Tintin was being oddly secretive.
Dressing up all fancy.
Leaving with the last word.
Forgetting a small black box that he called 'the ring'.
Haddock hates that he has to wait and see what happens.

Tintin busts an entire crime ring that night, somehow. Chang is right there with him though the whole debacle. They arrive back at Marlinspike with triumphant smiles and tired eyes.
He shoos them off to bed as soon as he can get them to, hoping they get some sleep.
Haddock doesn't quite understand the whole 'ring' thing yet. He doesn't know if it was a part of the greater scheme or something a lot simpler.
With the way that there's a ring on Chang's finger, maybe it is a lot simpler.
Or perhaps it is both.
