Summary
By the third hour of meetings Vegas is praying for a gunfight: he's bored out of his skull and has spent most of the morning terrified his father will catch him in a moment of distraction—or worse, a yawn—and have cause to be disappointed in him yet again. He's still trying to regain approval after ditching school to go joyriding with his friend Scott last month; he was belted for that, like a little kid, the shame far worse than the pain. His dad probably wouldn't have considered bringing him to today's meeting—he's still grounded—if he hadn't found out Tankhun's accompanying Uncle Korn.
On the run, Vegas and Tankhun take care of each other.
