“So, what's up with them?” Eddie asked.

Dustin looked up and followed Eddie's line of sight. Steve and Robin were cuddling on the couch, laughing and giggling.

“What?”

Eddie looked confused, “Are they dating?”

“Oh, no. They're just best friends or soulmates or whatever you want to call them. They're strictly platonic.”

“Yeah, they told me but I saw them kiss yesterday.”

Dustin didn't seem like he cared despite the fact a couple of months ago he would've been moaning about how Steve and Robin were meant for each other.

Dustin said, “Well, that's just what they do. I don't understand it either.”

He shrugged and went back to what he was doing. Eddie rolled his eyes. Steve probably had to lecture Dustin for hours to get him to be cool about…whatever was happening with those two.

He watched the two some more. Steve leaned in and whispered close to her ear and Robin blushed.

He narrowed his eyes. There's no way they aren't dating but it doesn't make sense. He could've sworn Robin was a lesbian. Her shoes had boobs on them, her jacket had a pink triangle, and she commented on his bandana one time!

He sighed.

-

The next day he saw them kiss. Again. Robin kissed Steve on the cheek afterward and they got back to work.

Eddie threw his hands up and left the store.

The two yelled after him but he ignored it.

-

Two days went by without anything happening. Today was the pool party all the kids planned without telling Steve despite the fact it was at his house (Eddie helped plan it).

Eddie was lounging on the poolside with his feet in the water. Steve and Robin were lying on the pool chairs behind him.

“Wooh, you're looking hot, Rob.”

“Thanks, you don't look that bad either.”

Eddie leaned forward till he plummeted into the water.

-

Steve and Robin invited him over for a movie night. Eddie went because surely if he were the only one there, they would stop their couple shenanigans. He had concluded that Steve was acting as Robin's beard so no one would suspect she was a lesbian.

Cause there's no way she isn't a lesbian.

He thought Steve was pretty admirable for that. He had to give up dating for his best friend. Eddie knew Steve was a guy who was known to date around Hawkins. The girls in school raved about his good looks and how he was just the perfect date.

They decided to watch a rom-com movie. Not exactly his cup of tea but he can get down with it sometimes. Robin loaded it up and then went to sit down. And she took a seat on Steve's lap.

Eddie took a deep breath. They are friends, friends can do that without it being romantic. It doesn't mean anything.

He continued to watch the movie and they did nothing but cuddle for most of it.

Then the confession scene happened. The girl said how she liked him for so long but they were just too different and the guy said that didn't matter and all that. It was in the rain too, very typical romance movie shit. Eddie didn't really care.

What he did care about was that Steve and Robin kissed when the characters did.

Eddie had enough. He jumped up.

“That's it! I'm done with this, what is up with you two?”

“What?” Steve asked. He and Robin gave each other a confused look.

He continued, “What are you guys? Dustin said you're platonic but you keep kissing and doing all this coupley stuff and it's driving me insane!”

Robin said, “Wha-, Eddie, is this why you've been acting weird?”

“YES! Now tell me what's going on with you two.”

“Just sit down and we'll tell you.”

Eddie sat down on the couch and stared at them. They give each other a look that Eddie couldn't decipher.

He glared.

“So,” Steve started, “We’re not dating. We’re totally, completely, one hundred percent platonic.”

“Then, why are you kissing? Isn't she a lesbian?” He asked, completely frustrated at this point.

Robin said, “Eddie, why would you think we're dating if I'm a lesbian?”

“That's why I'm confused!”

“We're not dating. We're strictly platonic. We just…kiss sometimes and do couple things.”

“Isn't that weird for you? What if Steve falls in love with you or something?” Not that Eddie thought Steve would take advantage of that. Steve was more likely to jump off a bridge.

Steve snickered, “Yeah, that's not happening.”

“Why not?”

“Well, I don't really feel romantic attraction. That's why we're so good together, Robin and I. We know we don't like each other like that.”

Eddie was so confused, “You've dated plenty of girls. You’re like notorious for it.”

“Oh, yeah, I never actually felt anything for them. Robin said I was just trying to fit in and I confused my platonic love feelings for romantic love feelings.”

“Yeah, that's basically the gist of it,” Robin said.

“And what about Nancy? You were like obsessed with her,” Eddie asked

“Well, I thought if I were to like anyone, it would be Nancy. She's the perfect girl, y'know?”

Eddie did not know.

He nodded then asked, “So, you guys just kiss because you want to?”

“I mean, yeah,” Steve said, “I think it makes us closer. It's not like we have sex or anything.”

Robin wrinkled her nose in disgust.

Eddie thought about it. It wasn't as weird as real-life monsters and it made the two happy…

“If you guys are happy with it, then I'm fine with it.”

Robin smiled, “Thanks, Eddie.”

They went back to watching the movie.

“Wait,” Eddie shot up, “Does Dustin know about this?!”

Notes:

I'm honestly not 100% sure it is day 6 lol
