Work Text:
”...You’ll miss me
While I’m alone and as blue as can be
Dream a little dream….
Lucy and Chris turn to face each other at the exact same moment. Two faces wracked with horror.
Did he just…? Lucy thinks as tears prick her eyes.
Chris is horrified with himself. Lucy can see it written on his face. Still she can’t bring herself to look him in the eye for more than a second. She’s frantically blinking back tears, trying not to lose it as she listens to Chris’s string of apologies. Tamara and her intern friend, whose name she cannot remember at the moment, left them alone and she’s really wishing she hadn’t.
Chris continues to try and apologize but what Lucy really needs is to be alone. When Chris grants her wish she stands in the suddenly small room and lets her tears fall silently. She finds herself thinking that she doesn’t actually want to be alone. What she needs, or more accurately who she needs, isn’t here. It’s not an option. He’s at work. But he gave her a rally speech once and she could really use it again. It’s then that she’s reaching for her phone but before she can open up his contact, Tamara walks back into the room. Alone.
“Hey. Are you okay? Tamara walks over to Lucy and places a hand on her arm. “I saw Chris and he-” she trails off.
Lucy is fighting a new onslaught of tears and Tamara, somewhat panicking at her roommate's breakdown, just pulls her in for a tight hug. Lucy gratefully returns the young girl's embrace trying not to let it bother her that she’s the older one in this relationship. She should be the strong one. Instead she’s letting a girl who is more than a decade younger than her, comfort her.
“I’m sorry.” Lucy whispers.
“Why are you sorry?”
“I- I don’t- I don’t know. I shouldn’t-” Lucy hiccups.
“Lucy, listen.” Tamara pulls back. “There is no right or wrong way to handle this. You are allowed to feel or not feel however you want. And you definitely don’t need to apologize to me or anyone else about it. Do you understand?”
Lucy meets Tamara’s gaze and sniffs. “Thank you.” she whispers.
“Of course.” Tamara pulls her in for one more quick hug before stepping back. “Now what can I do to help? Do you need me to go yell at Chris? Because what he did was pretty stupid.”
“No no. He didn’t mean it. It was just stuck in his head.”
“I still think he should have been a little less reckless. Do you need anything? Water? A snack? Is there anyone I can call?”
Tamara is just rattling off suggestions and Lucy knows that, but it’s the last one that peaks her interest. She thinks back to how she was seconds away from calling Tim. But before she says anything she regrets she thinks through how that could play out. What would Tamara tell him? What would he even be able to do? What does Lucy actually want from him? So instead, she keeps the thought to herself and just shakes her head. She’s grateful that Tamara took the day off to be here with her.
“No. Thank you for coming to check on me.”
“Um duh of course. So. Are you going to stay or do you want me to take you home?”
As she listens to Tamara’s words, she comes to a realization. Chris has seen the video. Who knows how many other people in the DA’s office have seen it in preparation for the trial. And then her mind drifts to an even more horrifying thought. How many people at the LAPD, her friends, her coworkers, her superiors. How many of them have seen it? She once again finds her train of thought approaching Tim. She suddenly wonders if he’s seen it. Did he want to see it after he’d pulled her out and breathed life back into her body?
Why would he? she wonders.
She quickly shakes the thought of Tim, focusing her attention on the other girl in the room.
“We can get food and just watch a movie or something.” She finishes her sentence and Lucy realizes she wasn’t paying attention.
“I need to see it.” Lucy blurts out.
“What?”
“The video. I need to see it.”
As realization dawns on Tamara she puts her water bottle down and walks toward Lucy. She puts her hands on her arms and looks at her.
“Do you think that’s a good idea?”
“Tamara I had to live through it.”
“Exactly. And don’t you think once was enough? Why do you want to live through it again?”
She had a point. Experiencing that trauma once was enough for a lifetime. But a different part of her, a morbidly curious part, wanted to see it. Needed to see it. She just wasn’t sure why.
“You have a point. And I wish I could explain it. But I need to watch it. I’m going to go find Chris.”
Before Tamara can say anything else in protest, Lucy flies out of the room in search of her ADA boyfriend.
_____________
As Lucy hits play on the video, her hands are shaking and she’s trying her best to fight the tears she knows are coming. The video is only a few minutes long but it’s in those few minutes that she is suddenly transported back into that barrel. She’s overcome with the thoughts and feelings and emotions she had that day. This is what Tamara was talking about. She didn’t have to relive this. She could turn it off right now, get up and walk out. But her body was glued to the chair. She couldn’t move. She watched horrifying minute after horrifying minute of being trapped, running out of air and slowly losing consciousness. She found herself gasping for air now too. She put her hand on her chest to try and calm herself but it was a futile attempt. It wasn’t until she started thinking about what Tim had told her when she returned to work that she found her heart rate slowing and her breathing becoming even.
You can choose to see that tattoo as your greatest failure. But I see it as proof that you’re a survivor. It wasn’t your day of death Officer Chen. It was the first day of the rest of your life. And no one can take that away from you.
It wasn’t something she thought about often, at least she tried not to because remembering his words meant remembering the worst thing that’s ever happened to her. The worst day of her life. But she was allowing herself today for obvious reasons. He was right. She was a survivor. She doesn’t have anything to prove to anyone, least of all herself.
And that’s why when Chris and Tamara walk through the conference room door, she tells them that she’s decided not to testify.
Chris is more than understanding, not that she thought he would fight her on the issue. Especially not after what he’d done earlier. And she can see that Tamara is proud of her, the way she embraces her in another hug before telling her she’s going to cook dinner for her.
Tamara watches Lucy wearily as she insists she go to dinner with Austin. No matter how much she says she’s going to be fine, Tamara still thinks the two women should go home together. Chris even tries to reassure her that he would make Lucy dinner but after what he did, Tamara wishes she could deck him. He’s not good enough for Lucy and maybe it’s not her place to say it but she hopes Lucy realizes that fact sooner rather than later.

As Tamara and Austin are headed to the parking garage, his phone dings with an incoming message.
He looks up at her after reading the message, concern and regret evident in his expression.
“Everything okay?” Tamara asks.
“Umm. No actually. I’m so sorry but we just got an emergency call back to the office. All hands on deck. Something to do with the Rosalind Dyer case. I’m so sorry. Rain check?”
Tamara is disappointed but she did only just meet him. Plus she understands. This is a huge case and anything to make sure that crazy bitch stays behind bars for the rest of her life.
She offers him a smile. “It’s a date.”
He offers to walk her back upstairs where she can find Lucy so they can go home together. She knows if Austin, an intern, got called back in, Chris most definitely did too.
________________
Chris and Lucy are in the elevator talking about propriety when it comes to being barefoot in public. A weird conversation yes, but Lucy pays the topic no mind. Just grateful to be talking about something else. Their teasing words are making each other laugh and Lucy is doing her best to forget about what happened. Trying her hardest to find some normalcy but no matter how hard she laughs or how flirty she gets with Chris, she can’t stop herself from wondering how he could have been so careless. So thoughtless. Sure he’d apologized. Many times over. It was clear he was regretful but she still thinks it shouldn’t have happened in the first place. So when he’s checking his phone after an incoming text message and shoots her an apologetic look, one she’s seen many times before, she drops her hand from his shoulders and stands staring at the elevator doors.
“I’m sorry Luce. It’s for Rosalind’s case. All hands on deck.”
“It’s fine. I’ll just find Tamara and we can go home.” She offers without turning around to look at him.
“You’re mad.” Chris states.
“Not mad.” Lucy asserts, shaking her head. Even though, yeah, maybe she is a little mad. She wanted to spend some time with her boyfriend after a hard day. Yet, anger isn’t the only emotion taking over her. It feels like relief and possibly some guilt because of that.
Her boyfriend is the one she should want to spend time with after the day she’s just had. But the thought of going home with Chris was overwhelming her and she was just now realizing it. Maybe it was the thought of having to discuss the day's events. Or the fact that he did something completely despicable and she didn’t particularly want to relive it through his shower of apologies later. Yeah she was mad he was abandoning her tonight of all nights but she also was thankful that he’d gotten that text. Because as much as she didn’t want to. She felt herself longing to be comforted by someone else. Someone she had no right to want to be comforted by. But she couldn’t shake the thought from her head.
As they return to the floor they’d left on a couple minutes earlier, Lucy is greeted by Tamara who was waiting for the elevator.
“Oh there you are. I guess they all got called back so we can go home and I can make you dinner after all.”
Lucy smiles in response and exits the elevator with Chris on her heels.
He gives her a small kiss on the cheek and whispers an apology.
Tamara can’t help but eavesdrop and wonders what he’s sorry about. Not that he doesn’t have a lot to apologize to Lucy about, she’s just naturally curious.
“I’ll call you later!” He throws over his shoulder after he’s speed walking to his office.
The women exchange silent glances and return to the elevator to head home.

“Okay so this recipe didn’t quite turn out how I planned.” Tamara says running cold water in the skillet that had the burnt remnants of what was supposed to be their dinner.
“Maybe this is a sign that you shouldn’t try everything you see on ClipTok.” Lucy chides.
“Maybe you’re right.”
“I’m going to take a bath and then I’ll order dinner okay?”
Tamara throws a casual “Kay” over her shoulder as she retreats to her bedroom.
She was worried about Lucy. She seemed fine when they left the DA’s office but when they got home, Lucy changed into sweatpants and a t-shirt and curled up on the couch. She watched, or stared out, Tamara’s not really sure, three hours worth of International House Hunters. Not an unusual night for the young cop, however her mood just seemed off. Rightfully so, she guesses, but that did stop Tamara from worrying.
But she also didn’t know what to do. She tried talking to her while she was watching the TV but all she got in return was an occasional grunt of acknowledgement or one to two word responses. An idea popped into her head, and before she could stop herself she was pulling up a contact in her phone that she’d never called before.
She didn’t even remember how or why she had Tim’s cell phone number. She thinks he must have given it to her to call if she got into trouble and couldn’t get ahold of Lucy but she digresses because in this moment she’s thankful she has it. She crosses her room to close her door so Lucy doesn’t hear the conversation.
Tamara listens to the ringing and almost stops herself and hangs up the phone. What if she’s overstepping? In all honesty, what could Tim do for her or Lucy? She wasn’t sure but before she could think better of her decision the person on the other line picked up.
“Hello?” The greeting was tentative. “Tamara?”
“Hey Tim.”
“Is everything okay?” His tone was still unsettled. Like he was trying to make sure, she meant to call him.
“Uh yeah- I just…” she stumbles over her response because she truly doesn’t know what to say.
“Are you okay?” He presses.
“Yeah I’m fine.”
“Okay…” there’s a noticeable pause. “Is Lucy okay?”
Tim notices the hesitancy in Tamara’s pause before she begins speaking again. “Yeah. I mean- Yeah I think. Like physically she’s okay. I don’t know. I’m sorry. I don’t know why I called. I shouldn’t have. Sorry I bothered you. I’ll let you get back to your night.”
“Wait. Hold on.” Tim’s more alert now. Hearing that Lucy might not be okay, snapped him right to attention. “How did her testimony go today? You went with her right?”
“Yeah I did. But um- sh-she didn’t actually give her testimony.” Tamara grimaces, knowing she’s probably stepping so far over the line here. But there’s no going back now.
“What do you mean she didn’t give it?”
The young girl hesitates yet again, trying to figure out just how much she should tell him. “Well she was going to,” she starts. “They talked a little bit but when she was taking a break and getting a cup of coffee when Chris he-.”
Tim cuts her off. “Chris? What was he doing there?”
“I guess the person she was originally supposed to meet with was out sick so Chris took over.”
Just the mention of Chris’s name got Tim’s blood boiling. He really didn’t like that guy. Even if it was his own fault that Lucy was dating him. He was always mentally kicking himself for inviting him to that double date with him and Ashley. But he does his best to tamp down on his irrational anger towards Chris to continue the conversation with Tamara.
“Okay?” he draws the word into a question.
“They were getting ready and Chris comes into the room we were in to get some coffee and he-” she pauses.
“He what Tamara?” Tim tries to keep his breathing even.
Tamara takes a deep breath before she begins speaking again, and she hears a strange sound coming from the other end of the line. She swears she hears Tim’s truck start. She moves the phone away from her ear for a second but then quickly puts it back to resume telling Tim about today.
“He started- He started humming the song.”
Tim’s blood runs cold and he grips the steering wheel of his truck. Chris fucking did what?
“He did what?” Tim growls.
“He started humming the song Tim and I swear I’ve never seen her look more distraught.” Tamara finally spills. “She looked so hurt and was doing her best to keep it together but-” she trails off.
“Okay and then what happened?” Tim steps on the gas a little harder. He needed to get to Lucy’s apartment as quickly as possible.
“She um- we talked. And then um- she asked to see- she asked to see the video and he let her watch it.” Tamara knew ’let her’ was the wrong choice of words because really when Lucy made up her mind about something there was little anyone could do to stop her, but nonetheless, those are the words that fell from her mouth and based on Tim’s reaction to her telling him that Chris hummed the song he probably wasn’t too happy about this either.
“I’ll be there in twenty minutes.”
“Wait! Wh-”. Before she could protest or ask why. He hung up.
She paced back and forth in her room trying to decide if she should tell Lucy that Tim was coming over. She played out her options. She could be up front about her actions. Tell Lucy that she called him, told him what happened and now he was on his way here. Or she could say nothing and act just as surprised as Lucy when he showed up here in twenty minutes. She knew she was being a coward but she went with option number two. So she made her way out to the living room where she heard Lucy finishing up in the bathroom. Tamara was sitting on the couch, scrolling through her phone when Lucy emerged dressed in her pajamas.
“How was the bath?”
“Incredible. Do you know what you want to eat?”
“Umm-” she makes a show of trying to decide.
Before either woman can say anything there’s a knock at the door. Tamara jumps a little and Lucy looks at the door and then to her roommate and then back at the door with furrowed brows. “Are you expecting anyone?”
“No.” It comes out clipped and quiet as she shakes her head.
Lucy looks through the peephole and to say she is surprised by who she sees on the other side would be an understatement. She undoes the lock and opens the door to a grinning Tim. Her heart flutters a little seeing him standing on her doorstep. She thinks back to all the times today she wanted to talk to him. Needed to talk to him. And she can’t help the smile that spreads across her face. He’s holding a couple bags and she’s curious. She watches him as his eyes move up and down her body and it dawns on her that she’s in her pajamas. Tim is standing at her door and she’s in a pair of very short pink shorts and one of her old academy t-shirts. She praises herself for making the conscious decision five minutes ago to put a sports bra on under the shirt. Otherwise, this could have been even more awkward.
“Hey. What are you doing here?” she asks, trying to be as casual as possible. She doesn’t want anything in her voice to give away that she’s slightly embarrassed that he’s seeing her dressed down like this.
He covers up a small laugh with a cough before holding up the bags as if that’s supposed to answer Lucy’s question. She moves aside and lets him enter the apartment. He nods in Tamara’s direction and she gives him a small nod and a tight smile, hoping to be able to convey to him without words that he shouldn’t say anything about their phone call. Luckily, he never brings it up.
“Well I know you had to give your testimony today and I know how hard that must have been for you and I wanted to do something nice. So I brought dinner, ice cream and a movie rec.”
Lucy wishes she had a picture of what her face looked like right now because surely she couldn’t be hearing him right. Tim Bradford. Broody, grumpy, hard-ass Tim Bradford, had the forethought to bring her stuff to cheer her up after a hard day.
“Uh- I- I don’t know what to say.” she chuckles and looks at him staring at her.
“Thank you would be a start.”
There it is. But he was right. Somehow he knew exactly what she needed. Dinner, ice cream and most importantly. Him.
“Sorry. Yes, thank you. I’m just surprised. That’s all.”
“I’m full of surprises Chen.”
“Clearly.” she moves from where her feet had been planted to get plates and silverware to get ready to eat.
“I hope Thai is okay?” he asked taking his shoes off.
Lucy audibly groans. She’s so hungry. She hadn’t eaten since Tamara’s PopTart/egg sandwich this morning. “Thai sounds perfect.”
He puts the food on the counter and places the ice cream in the freezer.
“You’re eating with us right?” Lucy asks, hopeful that he’ll stay.
“If you want me to.” he offers politely but that had been his plan all along.
No way was he going to leave Lucy after what she went through today. Testimony or no testimony, having to listen to Chris, her boyfriend, of all people hum the song that reminded her of the worst moments of her life and on top of that watching the video… He’d seen it. In the days following her rescue and making sure she was okay in the hospital. He’d overheard Angela talking about it with Grey and he asked to see it. They shared a look that told him they were going to try to talk him out of it. He was not amused and demanded to see it before they even got the chance. He didn’t care what they were going to tell him. Lucy had to live through it and the least he could do was watch it. Try to understand even though he knew he never could. Not in the way he wanted to. Not in the way he wishes it had been him in that barrel instead of her.
He spent the better part of the morning that day, locked in an interrogation room with the laptop open. Every time he tried to press play, something stopped him. He didn’t want to see her terrified. He didn’t want to watch her in pain. Logically he knew Lucy was safe. He’d found her and pulled her out and she was in the hospital with Rachel, Jackson, John and all the doctors and nurses looking after her but he still knew watching this would be hard.
But he cursed himself and went back to his thoughts when he was talking to Grey and Angela. She lived through it. He can watch it. Then he pressed play and watched with bated breath for the entirety of it. Feeling all sorts of emotions he didn’t understand before realizing a lone tear had slipped down his cheek. He slammed the laptop shut, wiped his eyes and left the room. He never discussed it with anyone. Not Angela, not Grey and especially not Lucy.
So yeah there was no way he was going to leave her tonight. Not right now anyway.
She offers him a plate in way of a response and then hands one to Tamara. They plate their food and sit around the TV, awaiting Tim’s movie recommendation.
“It’s about a group of everyday people who are on a bus just going about their normal day and some crazy guy straps a bomb to it and they can’t let the speed drop under fifty miles per hour or the bus will explode.” The girls look at him incredulously with food in their mouths at his eager explanation.
“Come on! You’ve never heard of it? You-” he points at Tamara with his fork, “I guess is understandable. But Lucy you’ve never heard of it really? It’s got Keanu Reeves and that one actress from that football movie in it…” he looks at the ceiling trying to think of her name. “Oh Sandra Bullock.”
Both women look at each other and exchange amused glances before looking back at Tim.
“I don’t know. When did it come out?” Lucy inquires.
“Like early nineties.” Tim says between a bite of food.
“Tim I was like maybe four at the most depending on the year.”
His face falls as he remembers the age gap between them. However, he quickly regains control over his expressions. “Just give me the remote.” he plucks it out of her hand to open the streaming platform he needs.
Tamara is lost in her phone but Lucy is staring at Tim. Both amused and intrigued by this side of him. He looks at her and smiles briefly before pointing to the TV.
“Just watch it.”
The trio enjoys their food as the movie begins. Within the first twenty minutes, Lucy and Tamara have to refrain from teasing Tim about the movie. Of course that is short lived.
“I can see why you like this movie so much.” Tamara looks at Tim from the chair she’s sitting in and gives him a pointed look.
“What?” he asks, offense clouding the response.
“Super badass LA police officer, riding in to save the day…” she trails off and points at Lucy while continuing. “You don’t have to have a psych degree to figure that one out.”
“What are you implying?” Tim’s voice has a hint of playfulness to it.
Tamara just smirks at him and turns back around to pay attention to the movie. Lucy giggles at their interaction but doesn’t say anything. She can feel Tim’s eyes on her.
“And what’s so funny over there?” He nudges her knee with his hand.
She raises her hands in defense. “I didn’t say anything.”
Tim narrows his eyes and smirks. “Mhm.” But he can’t help the smile that crosses his lips.
Lucy smiles in response and they all go back to paying attention to the screen in front of them. But Lucy is only half paying attention. She can’t help but feel eternally grateful for the two people in the room with her at the moment. Two people who she knows have her best interests at heart and are doing what they can to make sure she feels okay.
Halfway through, once they’ve finished dinner they pause the movie to clean up. Tamara collects the dishes in between staring at her phone and puts them in the dishwasher, while Lucy scoops three dishes of the non-dairy ice cream that Tim brought over.
When Lucy passes out the ice cream, she has to wave Tamara’s in front of her face to get her attention.
“Who are you texting that’s got you so distracted T?”
“Austin.” she responds, shrugging her shoulders like it should have been obvious.
“The kid from…” Lucy’s eyebrows are raised in question and Tim looks between the two girls, lost.
“Who’s Austin?” he tries to ask casually as he takes a bite of his ice cream.
When Tamara doesn’t answer because her nose is once again in her phone, Lucy speaks for her.
“Some intern at the DA’s office that she met today.”
Tim’s eyebrows shoot up and he nods in understanding. He watches Lucy move the spoon around in her ice cream but doesn’t take a bite. He’s deliberating on whether or not he should bring up what happened today or just let it go. Ultimately he decides to just check in.
“You okay?” He dips his chin, looking at her, trying to meet her eyes.
She looks up, eyes soft, and lets out a breath before she smiles. “Yeah. Let’s finish the movie.” She moves her body so that she’s sitting cross-legged on the couch while facing the TV. Tim is acutely aware of how close she’s sitting next to him, while his own legs are dangling off the couch in front of him. He eyes her for a moment longer before hitting play on the remote.
As the movie continues to play, their ice cream is long gone, dishes discarded on the coffee table around them. Tamara got up from her chair at one point to turn out the lights, which made the group a little sleepy.
Lucy and Tim remained on the couch, sitting just a breadth apart. At some point towards the end of the movie, Lucy’s head had fallen on Tim’s shoulder and he didn’t have to look at her to know that she was asleep. He could hear her even breathing. Something in him told him he shouldn’t be as okay with this current situation as he was, especially because he had a girlfriend and Lucy had a boyfriend. Well for now. He’s not sure how long Chris would last after today, but he couldn’t bring himself to wake her or ask her to move her head. She had a rough day and she looked so peaceful.
The credits of the movie began to roll and now it was inevitable. Tim had to head home which meant moving from the couch, which meant having to wake a sleeping Lucy from his shoulder.
He gently taps her on the knee and whispers a soft “hey” to get her attention.
She groans at first before blinking her eyes open and taking a survey of her surroundings. She looks around the room, looking adorably confused for a beat before looking up at Tim with her head still on his shoulder. She sits up quickly as if she’d been burned.
“Oh god. I’m sorry. How long have I been asleep?” she whispers, rubbing the corners of her eyes. She glances over and notices Tamara asleep in her chair. Phone atop her chest.
“Not long. Maybe half an hour.”
“Oh. I missed the end of the movie.” she frowns.
“That’s okay. We’ll just have to watch it another time.” He doesn’t realize his words until they’ve already left his mouth. He looks at her and smiles but neither of them address the comment.
They both get off the couch, Lucy collects the ice cream dishes to bring to the kitchen. She winces when she looks at the microwave clock and realizes it’s almost midnight. Tim collects his jacket and begins putting his shoes on.
“Are you okay to drive home?” Lucy asks, concern lacing her question.
“Yeah,” Tim waves her off. “I’ll be okay.”
“Text me when you get home, so I know you made it safely please.”
Tim is momentarily taken aback by her request. He’s not used to people worrying about his safety and well-being. But he shouldn’t be surprised either. Lucy’s always been different. She’s been looking out for him since the day she walked into his life. Whether he wanted her to or not.
“I will.”
They share a smile and Lucy opens the door for him. He says goodbye and begins walking down the hall, Lucy watching after him.
“Hey Tim.” she calls after him suddenly.
“Yeah?”
She doesn’t know what she wants to say. There’s so much but at the same time not enough. She was indescribably grateful that he’d been here tonight. He was the distraction she needed even if she still hadn’t been able to figure out how he knew. None of the words that came to her mind seemed sufficient enough to express her gratitude. So she just went with a smile and simple “Thanks.”
The words ‘for what? Doing my job.’ popped into his mind briefly but he knows that’s not what this is. This wasn’t his job. Showing up to Lucy’s apartment after she had a rough day, was not his job. He didn’t know what it was and that kind of scared him but regardless, he was glad he could be there for her tonight in whatever capacity.
He smiles. “Goodnight Lucy.”
“Goodnight Tim.”
When she closes the door, she leans against it momentarily thinking back on the day. It had ended just as oddly as it had started. But yet, she was weirdly happy. Maybe happy was the wrong word because she did have to relive her worst trauma today. But she felt peaceful. She was thankful for Tim and Tamara and that they were able to distract her tonight so she didn’t have to be alone with her thoughts.
She finished cleaning up the living room and kitchen. She placed the dishes in the dishwasher, placed the throw pillows back in their spots on the couch and refolded the blanket she was using and laid it across the back of the couch. When she moved to Tamara, she couldn’t help but laugh at how alarmed she was when she awoke. She calmed and groggily wished Lucy a goodnight before they departed into their respective bedrooms.
A couple minutes after Lucy laid down, her phone pinged with a new message notification.
To: Lucy
From: Tim
[12:04am]
Made it home safe. Sweet dreams.
His message made her smile. She typed and retyped different replies before she landed on one she was happy with.
To: Tim
From: Lucy
[12:05am]
You too.
And with that Lucy closes her eyes and is on her way to a more peaceful sleep than she thought she was going to get tonight.
