Chapter Text
Copper-9 hasn't heard any word from any of the human colonies across space for months now. Everyone, human and drone, was starting to get concerned and worried from the silence. It felt like they were the only people in the galaxy now.
That was... Until a couple of pods... No, they were too big to be pods... Until a few ships... Broke through the planet's atmosphere and crashed into the surrounding buildings of Copper-9's most densely populated city.
The original groups of humans and drones that had been sent to inspect the crash sites and try to search for any survivors that were in need for medical assistance were in for a surprise. Because as the doors opened, instead of finding humans... They encountered monsters mixed with metal and flesh.
The following weeks after that was nothing but pure chaos and slaughter. Cities were scorched into oblivion and organizations were crushed.
The streets were filled with the sight of burning buildings, busted cars and both Humans and Drones alike being captured, slaughtered and eaten. By groups Zombie Drones and Zombionics. It could only be described as living hell.
Zombie Drones and Zombionics, they were the dead brought back... Nasty creatures. The latter were easier to deal with, they were just mindless shambling humans with some artificial parts to make them more durable and deadly, but the real problem was the former. Zombie Drones, despite all of their bloodlust and feral behavior, were very much capable of simple thinking. The best recommended course of action if one was ever unfortunate enough to encounter a Zombie Drone, was to run like hell.

The projection was suddenly shut off via remote as a female worker drone with violet hair, leaned against a desk with a bored expression.
"-A few months later after the initial invasion, the remnants of JCJenson, and survivors of the attacks banded together and the WDHUR —Worker Drones & Humanity United Resistance— was formed. The bunker was made and Copper-9's best scientists, or what's left of them, studied our attackers for any weaknesses. Would anyone like to answer this one?" Nori asked as she pocketed the remote in her bomber jacket's pocket. Before a human male with a bandana raised their hand hesitantly.
Rolling her eyes, Nori pointed at said individual and gestured for them to stand up. "Yes, you. Insignificant background OC, what would you like to share?" Her words earning a confused look from the student.
"Uh... Ms. Nori? My name's Simon-" the boy in question tried to say, only to be cut off by the Worker Drone with a sharp glare.
"Yes, okay I get it, you're a named side character OC. Now answer it kid."
Gulping nervously, the human stood up as he awkwardly fidgeted with his collar. "Um... They figured out that shooting a Zombie Drone in the chest usually kills them?"
Nori nodded at the boy's guess and she gestured for him to sit back down. "Right answer kid." She said as she pointed at the whiteboard with some detailed drawings of Zombie Drone anatomy. "Although that's definitely one of the right choices, the reason we even figured that out in the first place was thanks to the fact that they can also be stunned by EMP attacks and sedated by magnets."
"Though there's also the sentinels.. but they can easily be overwhelmed once there's more than one Zombie Drone in the vicinity." Nori would pause for a moment, giving the humans time to absorb the information she had just provided —it was annoying, but she had to due to their inferior fleshy minds— before she asked another question. "Can anyone tell me why their chest is their main weakness? Oh and you know what, while you're at it, what is the weakness of Zombionics? You get 20 plus points on your next exam if you answer correctly."
After a few minutes of the students softly murmuring to each other quietly in the background —because most of them had not paid attention at all, having lost interest around halfway through the presentation— a short, edgy looking female Worker Drone who had hair similar to her own raised her hand with a smug grin on her face.
Nori felt a fond smile form on her face as she rolled her eyes and pointed at her lovable daughter. "Yes Uzi, what's your answer?"
The girl would jump on top her desk as she pointed at her mother and spoke in a smug tone. "The reason is because Zombie Drones have special cores located at their chest, destroying it stops them from regenerating and coming back from the dead!" Before she uninterestedly added. "Oh, and Zombionics get killed if you shoot them in the head or something, because they're lame and cliche."
Chuckling as she watches her daughter hop back down onto her seat, Nori nodded approvingly. "That's right, Zombie Drones have their special cores in their chest. However, the reason why Zombionics die from head shots is because their bodies still heavily rely on the brain to function."
"Now then, onto the next topic of-" The noise of the school's bell ringing cut her off as it notified everyone of the end of class, all of the teens standing up and grabbing their belongings. Everyone in the room waiting for Nori to dismiss them.
"Well... I guess we'll be finishing this next meeting, thank you and goodbye class. Have a nice weekend or whatever." Nori said, secretly relieved that class was finally over and that she could finally relax back at home and ramble like a maniac. Before she added. "And remember, if you ever get bit by a Zombie Drone or a Zombionic, try to sever the infected limb as soon as possible. Else you end up becoming one of them, but you probably won't have to worry about that thanks to my husband's doors."
As the students started to leave the classroom, Nori waited for all of them to go through the door, before she approached her daughter and patted her head. "Good job at school today, Uzi. Wanna grab some batteries on the way home?" The girl nodded eagerly at her question.
"Sure mom! Can we get some for dad?... Actually... Nevermind, he'll probably arrive home late again..." Uzi said with a dejected expression, causing Nori to give her daughter a gentle hug.
"Hey... I know your dad hasn't been giving us enough time lately, but you have to understand. What he does is for the sake of everyone, those doors keep those demons away from us." Nori said while gently caressing her daughter's head. "And remember he's only doing his monthly 2 week long door inspection, he'll be back to spending time with us in no time. Just put up with it for a little longer, okay Uzi?"
Her daughter would look up at her with a small smile before nodding. "... Okay mom, let's go home." Before she added enthusiastically. "We gotta continue building my sick-as-hell railgun now that I have the time for it again!"
Uzi had been building a new weapon recently, it was a project she had been working on as soon as she heard that the humans were invested in the idea for weapons in case any of the undead had managed to break through their doors. She would brag about it so much that she gained the nickname "Gunman" from her friends.
Nori chuckled in amusement as she picked up Uzi's bag for her. "Alright kiddo, let's go home. Maybe we can visit your Aunt Yeva and Doll on the way."
