I'm not supposed to be the one in glasses; I like men in glasses

Summary:

Wallace Wells has always been attracted to men in glasses. Recent events showed he needs glasses but doesn't want to admit it, because, he's not supposed to need glasses. It's other men that need them! Right?

Notes:

Hi I just had this idea for awhile since Wallace has a glasses kink, wouldn't it be funny if he was the one that needed glasses instead of his partner? Idk, I just had the idea and wanted to write it, enjoy.

Work Text:

Wallace first noticed it in class. He was running late (thanks to Scott, of course. Scott had overslept. Which normally wouldn’t be an issue as the two lived together, and Wallace normally dragged Scott out of bed. But it was an issue today because Scott managed turn off both of their alarms before Wallace could wake up.)

By the time two made it, most of the middle section of the class was full. All that was open was the very front or back, and quite frankly, neither Scott nor Wallace wanted to sit in the very front, especially when they were as late as they were.

The two walked towards the back, and the professor continued lecturing. Wallace took out his notebook. As he listened to the professor drone on, he squinted at the board trying to make out what he had written so far. From the back of the room, the writing on the board was much smaller than he was used to. This professor already had relatively small handwriting and loved to cram a bunch of gibberish on the board. From the middle of the class, it wasn’t too difficult to make out what was written, but Wallace wondered how anyone could read anything from this far.

Wallace looked over at Scott. Although Scott was not as good of a student as Wallace, he still took some notes in class. Scott appeared to be writing some of what was on the board. Wallace shrugged. He figured he was just tired still, and he’d ask Scott for notes later and just focus on listening to the professor for now and writing his notes down.

A few days later, it was the weekend. Scott and Wallace were going out to grab coffee on that Saturday morning.

Scott always loved getting the sugariest drink possible. Wallace on the other hand, preferred his coffee black for the most part. But today he felt more adventurous and wanted something flavored. On occasion it was nice to warm his soul other than just plain dark coffee.

Julie was working today.

“Oh it’s you too dumb lovebirds again. What do you want?”

“To order a coffee, duh!” Scott answered excitedly. Julie face palmed and sighed.

“Well hurry up then. I have a lot of shit to do today and a lot of customers.”

Wallace looked at the menu, which he noticed was unusually difficult to read. The words all seemed to blur together. He heard Scott order some kind of convoluted extra sugary drink effortlessly reading off the menu.

“Wallace, hurry up and order, your boyfriend already ordered his complicated drink. Wait why are you squinting so hard, do you need glasses or something?” Julie asked. Wallace, not realizing what he had been doing, stopped squinting.

“Glasses? No, I don’t need glasses, I’m just tired and frustrated, I’ll just take a black coffee like usual” Wallace scoffed.

“Whatever” Julie said and started preparing their order.

“Wallace, you okay?” Scott asked. “Julie was right, you were squinting hard at the menu.” Wallace shrugged.

“Yeah, I’m just tired, that’s why we’re getting coffee”. Scott shrugged and decided to leave it at that for now.

“Dude, maybe you should go to the eye doctor” Scott suggested later that evening. The two were eating dinner in the apartment.

“Where’d that come from?” Wallace asked.

“Uhhhh, the coffee shop today, and you asking for my notes in class when we sat further back. My notes, Wallace, my crummy notes. Don’t think I forgot about that. Plus, you’re literally squinting at me right now!”

“That’s because I’m irritated” Wallace claimed. “But you’re probably right, but also I’m probably fine, it’s probably nothing.”

“Wallace, you’re normally the sensible one. Why don’t you want to at least get your eyes checked? Don’t you want to know if you’re seeing properly?”

“Because Scott, I like men in glasses, I don’t want to be the one in glasses!” Scott rolled his eyes “Yeah, yeah, I know you like men in glasses, sorry I have 20/20 vision and I’m your boyfriend, just get your eyes checked please.”

Wallace knew he was right. Begrudgingly after dinner, he booked himself an appointment for the optometrist. And sure enough, the optometrist told him he was slightly nearsighted, nothing too serious, but should wear his glasses full time.

Scott was with Wallace as he was picking out his frames. Wallace couldn’t make up his mind; if he was going to be a full-time glasses wearer now, he wanted to make sure that he looked stunning in them. It didn’t help that Scott was also trying on glasses, just for fun.

“Ugh, I can’t make up my mind!” Wallace exclaimed. Scott was giggling.

“Oh, come on, you look good in any of these frames! Because you’re a good-looking guy, you can pull any of these off!”

“That’s what you say because you’re attracted to me. But I gotta find ones that are just right!”

Finally, Wallace picked out some frames, some round ones that were currently in style and looked pretty good on him, and just felt right.
“Hey Scott,” Wallace said. Wallace had an idea.

“Yeah?”

Suddenly Wallace took off the glasses and placed them on Scott’s face. Scott looked stunned. And really cute.

“Ah yes, this is what I’m talking about. I can just let you borrow my glasses whenever I want. These are the ones I’m getting. They look good on you and me” Scott blushed.

“Whatever floats your boat my guy”

Wallace and Scott could hardly wait until Wallace’s glasses were ready. Maybe getting glasses wasn’t so bad after all.
