“I think I have a conflict of interest,” Eddie says, he really tries to keep the amusement out of his voice but fails quite spectacularly.

Buck wants to be married and Eddie doesn't. They fight about it. Buck just assumed they would eventually but Eddie haven't even though about it. His first marriage was miserable, he did what people wanted him to do, he did what was expected and it blew up on his face spectacularly.
Buck loves the idea of being married, to show his love for Eddie to everyone else, for Eddie it's just a piece of paper, for Buck it's a symbol.
Eddie ends on a car ride to cool of and he calls Karen who puts things on perspective. Buck texts him basically saying he wants to talk to his best friend. It makes Eddie laugh and he comes back home. They talk and Eddie makes it clear that it's not about Buck but about mariage in general. He loves Buck, he's the love of his life. They apologize to each other and laugh with one another. The issue is not over, they still need to talk more about it but they know they'll be together forever whatever they end up deciding.It's refreshing to see a fic where they don't get married in 0.2 seconds after they confess (tho I love it as well).
