Step three, and this is important, make himself a better person, a more worthy person- then step four, show up on Caleb’s doorstep with flowers and wine and hope that it was enough.
He hadn’t thought to plan for his mother being full of silent rage at him wasting everything he worked on, stripping him from the den, and subsequently kicking him out on his ass until he “got it back together”.
