Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

An explosion deafening his ears, his vision going fuzzy, pain covering his body, tasting blood, his voice no longer working… Malleus was undoubtedly dead.

It happened so fast…. Ramshackle’s child of man could go home, they were about to leave, when suddenly…. Blot covered the feline beast, and he transformed into a truly humongous monster, bigger than Malleus' own draconic form. It was hard to believe that such a small creature could usurp Malleus’ true form in size, and yet the evidence was clear, though for Malleus, nothing could be clear anymore. Not the color of the sky, not the feeling of wind on his skin, nothing. After all, how could someone dead comprehend any of these things anymore?

Everything hurt for a split second, and then everything was numb. He thinks he saw the small Shroud trying to shoot… something, towards Grim. Kingscholar trying to help his junior, Howl? Malleus believes that was the boy’s name… Huh…?

Why was Malleus thinking? How was Malleus thinking? A dead man shouldn’t be able to think, right? Then Malleus opened his eyes. It was bright, but…. It certainly wasn’t death. Malleus got up to sit, only to realize he had been laying down. He looked around, only to notice a green glow coming from his right.

Malleus stared, and blinked. What he saw was undoubtedly, his own dorm room…? How? How was he here? He then heard a knock, wasn’t his hearing destroyed by those explosions? He looked at the door, and Lilia stepped in, turning the lights on.

“Morning Malleus!” Lilia shouted with a smile, seemingly not having noticed that Malleus was already sitting, and staring at him with blank eyes. “...Oh, you were awake already?” He asked, smiling. Malleus nodded, unsure of what to say.

“Well, I suppose get changed then?” Lillia said, chuckled to himself and left Malleus to change in peace.

“...huh?” Malleus said out loud.
