"Diana continued to look on. In that moment she felt like crying. Her entire relationship with Mulder flashed before her. It was all too late. She couldn’t change it, and she knew she shouldn’t anyway. Intellectually she knew that her values did not align with being in a relationship with him. But seeing Mulder happy and fulfilled with another woman made Diana hate her life and the decisions that led her here in this moment. She was filled with such jealousy. Her eyes welled slightly."
My head canon for how the events of Milagro helped bring Mulder and Scully back on the same page to allow for the flirty banter we saw in The Unnatural, and for how we see Scully much more sure of herself in her interactions with Diana in the The Sixth Extinction arc.
