Work Text:
Kara stood on the roof, her hair blowing in the wind. Babs should be getting off of patrol anytime now. Then they could meet.
Everyone told her that they were too different. Clark thought that Kara should be a creature of the day only, and not date a bat. They couldn’t work. He had personal experience with that, whatever that meant.
Alex didn’t trust Bats. She thought they were just trouble. She thought if Kara got too close to one, she would end up heartbroken.
John said that Kara was too optimistic to date a bat. He claimed that their minds wouldn’t mesh well.
But Kara didn’t care. They didn’t know Barbara like she did.
“Hey,” Barbara said, dropping down beside her.
Kara’s face lit up.
No one got to see Babs like this. She was gorgeous in the early morning light. Her hair and cap streamed behind her, while she ripped off her mask.
“Hey,” Kara said. Barbara sat down next to her, sighing and leaning back.
“You know Bruce doesn’t think we should date,” Barbara said, not taking her eyes off of the horizon.
“Alex and Clark think so too,” Kara said, shaking her head.
“They don’t know shit,” Babara said, laughing.
“Figured as much,” Kara said, turning to look Barbara in the eyes. She smiled and leaned forward. Their lips met, and Kara pulled Barbara into her lap.
Fuck what everyone else said, she and Barbara were happy and that was all that mattered.
