Summary
Before there was the Nina Project, there was the Nina Protocol— the reason behind the animosity between Doctor Brenner and Doctor Owens.
In the late 1960s, Martin Brenner has been running the MKUltra program for almost two decades, and is growing frustrated that the psionic abilities of his study participants have plateaued. Pulling from a different caliber of applicants, Brenner intensifies his methods to bring about better results. But when a beautiful and intelligent graduate student applies, his clinical detachment may crumble.
Irina is a graduate student, answering an advert in the school newspaper about a psychology study. Initially just hoping to earn enough to pay for a new typewriter, Irina’s experience as the child of ex-Soviet scientist defectors will ignite her desire to play a part in the end of the Cold War.
Sam Owens is a young physician and researcher, hoping to help his country. Combined with his reservations about Brenner’s more intense research methods, and his growing feelings for the beautiful Irina, he will have to decide between right and wrong.
