All Might, I stole an F-16!

Summary:

All Might was having a peaceful day...

Why is his phone ringing?

Why does Young Midoriya sound like he's in a fighter jet?!

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

Yagi Toshinori had been in the hero business long enough to be hesitant to say certain phrases. He wasn’t a superstitious man by any means… but saying those words always seemed to cause bad things to happen. However, today of all days seemed to be going well; no incidents had impeded his morning commute to U.A. and he even had enough time to enjoy a fresh cup of green tea before getting started on his stack of paperwork. It was almost… peaceful.

No sooner had that accursed word crossed the hemispheres of his mind, Toshinori’s phone rang in his pocket with the iconic declaration of: A PHONE CALL IS HERE! A PHONE CALL IS HERE!

Toshinori answers halfway through the third ring, “Hello, Yagi Toshinori speaking.”

“ALLMIGHTHELPI’MSTUCKINAJETONEFORALLISHAUNTEDANDIDON’TKNOWWHATTODO”

Recognizing the spiel as being able to only come from one person, Toshinori straightens from the worry in Midoriya’s voice and replies in a calming tone, “Young Midoriya, please slow down! I didn’t catch any of that. And try to speak clearly, it seems windy where you are.”

Midoriya taking a deep breath is audible through the background noise before, as loud as before, “ALL MIGHT, I’M STUCK IN A JET; ONE FOR ALL IS HAUNTED; AND I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO! PLEASE HELP!”

Toshinori promptly spews a stream of blood across his half-finished paperwork.

Damn it.

After taking several moments to clean up the blood and re-compose himself, Toshinori finally gives Young Midoriya a dignified response worthy of Japan (and debatably the world)’s Number One Hero: “What..?”

He hears what is almost definitely an exasperated sigh on the other end of the phone before Midoriya speaks again in a slightly panicked deadpan, “I’m currently stuck in a fighter jet, at an altitude of 13,000 feet going 300 knots while the ghosts that haunt our quirk are singing something that sounds like a sea shanty, but they’re insisting is a ‘sky shanty because we’re flying’. Nana says hi by the way.”

Toshinori has to take another long moment to stop himself from decorating his desk like a murder scene for the second time in less than 5 minutes. After swallowing the blood in his mouth, he turns his attention back to the panicking teenager talking through his phone, “...How did you even get in this situation, my boy? I thought you were back in Japan after our… eventful trip to I-Island?”

“Well, shortly after I got resettled back home Star and Stripe just showed up and I maybesortagotalittletooexcitedbecauseitsStarandStripeandshe’sjustsocooland-” Midoriya seems to cut himself off before continuing, “Sorry, Fifth said I’m mumbling. Anyway, Star and Strip invited me to visit the United States since she heard about us visiting I-Island and ‘wanted to see what her Master’s new student has to offer’. She took me to an airfield somewhere in Nevada and they had some really old jets sitting around and I sortablackedoutandnowwe’rethousandsoffeetintheairand I DON’T KNOW HOW TO FLY THIS THING!”

“Young Midoriya, please just take a deep breath for me, my boy.” Toshinori waits to hear Midoriya take a calming breath before continuing, “Do you know what kind of jet you’re flying? I can try to give you some help from here if you do.”

“Uh, I’m sorry but I don’t- Oh wait, really?” Midoriya seems to have a one-sided conversation for a second before returning to Toshinori, “Uhm, I guess its an F-16V? First is apparently a huge nerd for this kind of thing and miiiiiiiight be why I’m in this situation in the first place. Turns out they can possess my body temporarily. Who knew?”

Notes:

So I have no idea how this came to my mind but it cured my writers block temporarily so fuck it. If anyone wants more I'll try to put more than just this little shit of a story since there's more bouncing in my head.
