   Summary

   The flashbacks came nightly. Sometimes they were accompanied by hallucinations so visceral, it convinced him the fifty years of life he lived afterwards were nothing but a long, hollow dream. Sometimes he would see visions of Armand and reach out, only to draw his head back and see yet another dead mortal in his arms.
