The lost Destiny

Summary:

The story is about Elia Morningstar
the second Ward of Uther Pendragon
and how a few interventions changed the course of the world.

The story begins in episode 1, but only the episodes in which he makes drastic changes will be rewritten. Between seasons 4 and 5, the story will truly begin.

This is my first Merlin fic, and English is not my first language.
It was inspired by the story 'King Emrys of Oplaria'. It's a great story — I highly recommend it!

Chapter Text

Chapter 1: The Start of the Destiny

In Camelot three years after the start of the Great Purge. Uther, Gaius and the most trusted knights of the Crown, are riding through the lands. They are following the path of a sorcerer that killed a good friend of Uther. When they are in the woods they hear the sound of a crying baby. "Sire should we go and look what it is?" says Gorlois. "It could be a trap", says Ector. "We will go look it could be a baby that will be sacrificed" says Uther. They climb off their horses and sneak to the sound of the baby. Really fast they find a clearing with three sorcerers that have a baby in the middle of a rune circle it is now sleeping.

Uther gives the knights a sign to ready their bows. And once everyone has their bow ready he gives the sign to shoot the wizards. Once they are sure the sorcerers are dead, they come from their hiding place and go to the baby. "Gaius is the baby infectet with magic'", asks Uther. "I don't feel any magic from the baby" lies Gaius, he can feel an ancient powerful magic. Gaius searches the baby for injuries, he finds none, but he sees a ring on a chain around his neck and once he inspects the ring he can see the insignia of the Morningstar family. The insignia is a crow with two horns and two heads that look right and left.

"Sire the boy has the ring of the family Morningstar", says Gaius. "Finally we found your son Galahad, now you can rest in peace, if i remember correctly his name was Elia, then i have decided to name him my ward, we ride back to Camelot. Uther picks Elia up in his hands and walks back to his horse with him. Once they are on the ride Elia awakes and Uther sees his beautiful golden eyes.

Nine years later.

"Lord Elia, we need to get ready and then go to the throne room, to welcome the Lady Morgana" says the butler to Elia. "But I don't want to go Balrhae, i want to read" answers Elia. "You can read after the meeting with the Lady and the feast to welcome her" says Balrhae. "I will make myself ready if you get me a book about the dragons" says Elia. "I will do what i can to make it happen, but I cannot promise anything" says Balrhae. "Then i will trust you" answers Elia. Elia looks into the mirror while Balrhae makes him ready. He has straight pitchblack hair, his golden eyes are more beautiful, than when he was a child and he has a beautiful pale skin. When Elia is fully dressed, he begins to walk to the throne room, Balrhae is one meter behind him.

When Elia gets to the throne room he sees Arthur and when Arthur sees Elia he walks to him. "Elia when this is over have a sword fight with me" says Arthur. "Arthur, i don't understand what you like about fighting with a sword, why don't we read a book together?" answers Elia. "That makes no fun" says Arthur. The doors to the throne room open, Uther walks in and behind him is a girl not older than 10 years of age. They walk to the throne and when they are there Uther speaks with Elia and Arthur. "Arthur, Elia from today Morgana is my ward and you will treat her like a sister" says Uther. They both nod. Elia can feel a connection to Morgana and Morgana feels a connection to Elia. And so the feast begins.

At the start they eat and when they have eaten, Arthur goes to talk to other noble boys about swordfighting and techniques. Balrhae brings Elia the book about dragons. Elia takes the book and begins to read. When Uther notices that Elia is reading a book he asks "From where did you get this book?" "Balrhae promised to get me a book about dragons when i would attend today" answers Elia. "Elia put that book down and talk with Morgana" says Uther. Elia puts the book down on the table and looks to his left. Where Morgana is sitting.

"What do you like to do in your free time?" Elia asks Morgana. "I love fighting with a sword and reading books and what do you like to do?" answers Morgana. "I like to read and write books, but i don't like to fight. In general, i don't understand why there is a need for violence" answers Elia. "I think it's good to know how to fight because then you can defend yourself if you need. I also do not like violence but you can also defend with a sword" answers Morgana. "You have a point in that and what do you like to read" says Elia. "I love to read books about myths and legends of different cultures and you?" answers Morgana. "I like books about dragons" answers Elia. They continue to talk until it is late in the night and they become sleepy. So the two of them are brought to their chamber and put to sleep. In Elia's chambers there is a beautiful painting of the insignia of the Morningstar family and many bookshelves.

When Elia awakes the next morning he eats breakfast and then looks out of the window in his chamber and sees that Morgana and Arthur are having a sword fight and how it looks Morgana is even winning. Then comes Uther out and how it looks gives the two of them a lecture and Elia can think that it is something like, that Morgana is now a lady of the court and has to act like one and not have sword fights, and that Arthur should know better than to fight with a lady. Uther goes to talk with a knight and Morgana walks away with her new maid if Elia remembers correctly her name is Guinevere and she is the same age as Morgana.

After the ordeal Elia walks to the library when he sees Arthur. "Elia fight with me" says Arthur. "Do you need to strengthen your ego after losing to a girl?" asks Elia. "You would also have lost" says Arthur and looks triumphant thinking he has beaten Elia in a fight of words. "I know and i would not care because i don't like sword fighting and then it is normal to lose a fight and i do not train much, but if it makes you feel better, then i will fight you" answers Elia. When Elia did finish the sentence Arthur grabs his arm and practically drags him to the training ground. When a squire sees them he hands them each a training sword, they take it and go into position to fight.

From the way how Elia holds his sword you can see that he does not hold one often. They start fighting and in the beginning they are pretty evenly matched, but the longer they fight the more can Arthur win the winning hand and in the end Arthur can make Elia lose his sword with a good jab of his sword. Elia knows that if he would have used his real strength he could just have yanked the sword out of Arthur's hand but then it would not have been a fair figtht. "You win Arthur" says Elia. They hear the clapping of Uther.

"That was very good of you Elia, if i have heard correctly you do not often use a sword and such a good talent can hardly go to waste, so from tomorrow you will start training with Arthur" says Uther. "But i don't want to train with a sword because it does not make any fun, i want to read" answers Elia."Elia that would be a loss to the kingdom, we can compromise that you need to train every second day or I will forbid you from continuing reading books and that is the end of our discussion" says Uther. "I understand Uther" answers Elia. Uther goes back into the castle and Elia begins with his training and so go months by and Elia starts to catch up to Arthur.

One night when Elia is twelve years old he hears a voice that says "Elia" "Elia" He follows the voice through the dungeon until he gets to a big cave. "Hello did someone call me?" screams Elia. Then a dragon lands before Elia. "A real dragon! You must be The Great Dragon?" asks Elia. "Yes that i am" answers Kilgarrah. "Why did you call me?" asks Elia. "Because someone will need your help in the future to protect an important person" answers Kilgarrah. "And you think i would be able to help?" asks Elia. "Yes because i know that you have strong magical potential but you just need to learn to control it" says Kilgarrah. "Will that not make me evil?" asks Elia scared. "No it will not. Magic is like a sword you can use it for evil, or you can use it for good, it is the person that decides if it is evil or good" answers Kilgarrah. "Then you will help me control it?" asks Elia. "Yes I will, and i will even teach you different spells" says Kilgarrah. "Thank you now i finally know why things happen around me that are not normal and i will not need to be scared that i will hurt someone in an accident" says Elia. He gives the dragon a hug. And so begins Elia's training with the dragon. At first the dragon wanted to give Elia a few spells over mind transfer but Elia did not accept it because he himself wanted to learn the spells, he learns many spells pretty fast. Even faster than the sword fight.

Should I continue to use 'he says' after they say something else, or should I simply start the next sentence? Please answer in the comments below.
