Ernie had an adventurous spirit and a natural drive to help people, which had led led him all across the world in helping people. And he enjoys just about every minute of it!
But it does mean that sometimes he woke up in an unusual place and it'd take him a moment to realize where he was and why he was there.
Like waking up to an elephant's trumpet- that animal marching band's bus had been breaking down repeatedly and Ernie had hitched a ride on the condition of repeatedly fixing the bus on the way to their parade.
Or waking up to a choir singing, when he had fallen asleep at the church after fixing the roof and several pews. They had been rather kind if also rather loud.
Floating in the middle of the lake, or in a tent or igloo well swaddled by whoever he was with, or you name it.
But he had yet to wake up seemingly handcuffed to a radiator before. This was unusual.
It was only slightly uncomfortable - the silver handcuffs would be incredibly dangerous if they were tightened to his usual wrist, but they were loose even around his werewolf forearm. Not to mention they were gently wrapped in a cloth so as to not touch his skin. Thoughtful, Ernie guessed.
He had even been left a pile of gray and beige pillows and a few fluffy blankets, two of which were brightly colored and patterned. Bert had bought them for Ernie last week.
Right. He had made a friend after his car broke down and Ernie was the one in need of help. Why would Bert handcuff him to radiator if they had become friends?
Ernie had been repairing various parts of Bert's house, and Bert had even been kind enough to give him a spare room to stay in. Also he bought him gifts, like colorful blankets for the cold nights and his favorite treats. It just didn't make sense.
"Ernie?" Bert called out carefully, creeping around the corner. When Ernie turned to his friend, Bert looked so very worried. "Can you hear me?"
"Loud and clear, ol' buddy ol' pal-" Ernie replied with a nervous smile. "Say. Why am I handcuffed to the radiator"
"You don't sound any different!" Bert said, shocked as he hurried over, kneeling down by his now furred friend and pulling a small key out. "They're medical restraints."
"What, from the 1800s?"
"Yes." The handcuffs clicked open and Bert carefully slid them off, making sure not to catch Ernie’s fur peeking out from his long sleeved shirt. "I wasn't sure how werewolf transformed, and in movies werewolves tend to go wild..."
"Oh, I see..." Ernie answered, shoulders sagging as a frown found a rare place on his face. "You were scared i was going to hurt you and your things."
"More worried you'd escape the house and terrorize the town." Bert replied, standing up with the handcuffs gingerly before he moved off to a nearby cabinet. "If you're safe in here, no crazy werewolf hunter could get you"
"Oh!" Ernie spoke after a moment, a smile spreading on his face. "You care about me?"
"Of course I do!" Bert replied, unibrow raised in shock. "Ernie, you're my friend. I'd be very upset if you got hurt. Or worse..."
"And I thought movies showed vampires was unfeeling." Ernie joked, pushing himself out of his blanket and pillow pile. He turned to Bert who had frozen up with wide eyes, paler than usual.
"...Howd you know I'm a vampire?"
Ernie tilted his head at him, smile a bit more nervous.
"Was it suppossed to be a secret?"
