The blast of magic ripped through the room, and Lucien, as he had too many times in his life, found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. As Tamlin lunged for Feyre to protect her - or to grab her - she hurled a knife in his direction, with her full strength. Tamlin dived to avoid it. And the blade, forced off target by the continued tide of raw magic, embedded itself in Lucien’s chest instead.
He gasped in pain as the knife found his heart.
He heard little of the ensuing conversation. But he did hear Tamlin’s voice. And the King’s conciliatory response.
And then Lucien was thrown backwards into the Cauldron.
