Chapter Text
Five things you can see.
The room around him was illuminated by multiple fluorescent lights, next to him there was a table with scalpels and syringes and other tools he didn't even know the names of. There was a tinted window at each side of the room, Jonathan always told them it was because there was almost always someone watching the procedures. There was a second chair next to the one he was in, no one was there. Ish was standing in front of him.
His breathing was still uneven and ragged, the panic was still there.
“Experimentation log number 10, present here is test subject 11094c..”
He couldn't hear the rest with the strong ringing in his ears, it never got better regardless of how many times they did this.
Four things you can touch…
The ground felt cold against his feet, it was a nice grounding feeling. He could fidget with his hands, rubbing soothing circles. He could touch the chair he was in, the metallic texture at the edges and the plastic-like padding where his forearms rested.
He could trash and fight against the restraints that kept him bound there, but at this point he knew there wasn’t a reason to get himself in more trouble.
“For the record state your designation and age.”
He needed to get out of these restraints, he needed to shift but the collar around his neck prevented him from doing so. He needed to get out he needed to get out he needed-
Three things you can hear…
He could hear the static of the recording going on in the background, it was a nice constant and it kept the room from being in total silence. The air conditioner that kept the room cold, a constant reminder that not even the air here was from the outside.
The scientist talking to him, repeating the same question for the second time. Yet it didn’t really process in his brain.
A strong shock went from his neck to the rest of his body, he heard himself scream in pain, gasps of panic growing stronger.
Why wasn’t this helping it HAD to help… he needed to get out and he needed this to help and it hurts it hurts it-
“D-designation 11.. 11094c.. Age 13.”
“Good, we need you to be responsive for this test 4c. Don’t make me do that again.”
Two things you can smell…
Doctor Jade taught him this method to keep calm during tests.. two experiments ago, there was no other way to tell time. He was very much disappointed at its horrible results, his body still thrashed against the restraints and everything still hurt as much…
He could smell the sterile chemicals used to keep everything disinfected, he hated it, he didn't even want to remember the name. He could smell the liquid in the vial Ish had just opened, dark and gooey in texture.
“I’m gonna inject this in the muscle, exactly one millimeter will be applied. Test subject will be questioned on the effects and side effects they might experience, therefore no sedatives are being used for this procedure.”
He didn't scream when the fluid was injected, any of the panic from before carefully contained, he didn't want to be shocked again. He stood perfectly still while his brain still rushed with fear and-
Pain, a sudden spike of pain sparked in his arm where he was injected. It felt like he was being burned from the inside and it all hurt so much and he needed to get out of here and it all felt like so much and-
One thing you can taste…
He felt a sudden surge of pain in his chest, then felt a liquid crawl up his throat.
“11094C, start stating symptoms as soon as they present themselves.”
He could taste the coppery blood as it pooled on his mouth, he started coughing it out so he wouldn't choke.
He felt the smallest hint of satisfaction at seeing Ish’s pristine lab coat be stained by blood through blurry eyes.
He coughed blood a few more times, until he suddenly felt like someone hit him on the back of the head.
Everything finally went dark.
He didn't feel anxious anymore…
