Summary
Dozens of bodies littered the ground in a wide radius, each one grotesquely skewered through and through. Had Cody not been in his current line of work, he would have guessed a metal porcupine the size of a minivan had gone rogue.
Shawn, on the other hand, inhaled a sharp intake of breath, his eyes widening as the camera pivoted sharply, settling on a man’s face.
He had a full, snowy-white beard and looked far too much like a kindly grandfather to be responsible for the slaughter surrounding him.
“Turn the camera over, Rick,” another voice echoed.
Rick turned the lens toward a second man with a silver goatee, marred by a single vertical stripe of black hair. He looked so much like Rick they had to be brothers. This one wore a comical amount of chainmail draped over his head that might have been endearing, but he was currently holding a metal spike to the throat of the trembling correspondent.
“I know you’re watching, Hunter,” Black Stripe said, his voice unnervingly calm and lacking the manic energy usually found in public executions. “And I do hope we’ve captured just enough of your attention,”
