    Summary

Like two eagles, claws so tightly dug into the other.

Spiraling, the world a blur around them, diving into something new.

Trust, the only thing keeping them from colliding with their inevitable end.

To save each other, to survive together—maybe this is what it feels like to fly.

“If you take the stairs, I’ll be offended,” Gideon remarked, still facing the elevator. Harrow heard the smile in her words nonetheless. She then did the dumbest thing she had ever done in her life: Harrowhark stepped away from the stairwell and joined Gideon in front of the elevator.

The silence hung thick in the air as the two women stood shoulder to shoulder. Harrowhark attempted to not notice how stark their height difference was, even despite the boost in height her boots gave her.

Gideon rocked back onto her heels and shook her hair out. An old habit, Harrow observed, one that she can remember so clearly. Memories came to her in a rush: metal bleachers, Gideon’s profile, the sun-rays illuminated behind red hair like a halo, sweat collecting on a top lip…

Old habits. Maybe this person wasn’t such a stranger to her after all.
