Summary
Merlin’s mother had made it very clear to him what he should do when she sent him off to Camelot. Merlin wasn’t to tell anyone he had magic, his mother was scared that he would be collared to keep him in line if someone found out. Yet, Camelot was, above all, one of the best places for an alpha warlock to be. In Essitir, the omega king would drag alphas off to his palace once they were old enough, claim them, and use them for their powers. It was a fate that Merlin’s mother had feared him facing since he presented at twelve summers old. It was why, on the eve of his eighteenth summer, she sent him away to the bordering kingdom before Cenred’s men could show up in Elador to take him away. In Camelot Merlin could have a future.
It was a more hopeful future than what he would have in any other kingdom.
Other than Essitir and Camelot, all other kingdoms executed alphas who had magic, mated or not, too afraid of what they could do. Camelot had done the same, once, but that had changed when the Queen had fallen for an alpha sorceress and had taken her as her mate, changing the law to allow mated magical alphas to live in peace.
All Merlin had to do was catch an omega....
