Westerberg School for Girls pushed into view, held back only by the fragile barrier of my parents’ car windscreen, a looming threat against the backdrop of the sky, eager and waiting for its one final chance to break my spirit.
Which didn’t mean Westerberg wasn’t going to find new and exciting ways of messing with me. Whether it was being pulled away from my familiar, mostly comfortable surroundings, or being forced into the orbit — and one of the rooms — of the Heathers, this year was going to be unlike any of my others here at Westerberg, my prison away from home.
