    Shane knew that these questions weren’t necessarily for people who were already married and in love. That they were for people who weren’t in love, a way to hopefully fall in love.

    But he also knew that his and Ilya’s relationship didn’t follow the usual pattern of dating, relationships, and love. They had yearned and felt something for each other for years, then within the same 24 hours they had declared their love and entered a committed long-distance relationship. They had phone calls and stolen hours, days, and the occasional blissful week together for years. They were finally living together and married and Shane was so happy… but he wanted to make up for those missed conversations. All the time they had lost in the cracks of their secrecy.

    Which is why on a rainy Sunday in June, Shane asked Ilya to answer 36 questions with him.
