Summary
The first time, they don't even have sex.
Stede has just come aboard with Oluwande and the others. Lucius pops out from somewhere, looking haggard but firm, and close behind him is Jim, so that's nearly everyone accounted for.
And peering around the bare light of the deck... the strangest thing to Stede is that Izzy doesn't seem to look once toward the captain's quarters. Neither do his two cronies. Somehow they know that in spite of the initial shouting and stern voices before peace was settled, the captain is not going to make a showing.

When he travels to Barbados to see the truth of things for himself, he ends up making a reckless choice that pulls him farther than ever from what he wants.(Or: My contribution to the Post-S1 Ed thinks Stede is dead/Reunion fics, but with a twist of Ed kidnapping Alma to assuage his grief.)

Summary
Ed shakes his head. No. No, this cannot be Stede. Ed knows that it isn't him. But here he is… smiling, fucking singing. Relaxed. No, this man cannot possibly be him. Ed knows it can’t be him. It’s been almost 14 months now - and Stede Bonnet is dead as a doornail. He can still see the obituary, the one that Izzy had found in Barbados, and had so joyfully passed onto Edward after they’d left the port. Ed can still see the smug, pleased smirk that had tickled Izzy’s face when Ed had read the paper. Stede Bonnet - deceased. Survived by his wife and children.
More than a year after Stede Bonnet's death, Edward happens across him, seemingly alive and well, and singing love songs in a dive bar in Tahiti.

“What is it this time? Here to tell me you miss me, and you should never have let me go?”
The blood left Stede’s face.
“Or you’ll tell me you hate me,” Ed continued, “Is that it? You want to watch me bleed tonight?” His eyes raked over Stede. “Or maybe you’ll tell me how you want me, and you’ll pull me into bed with you, and turn into ashes in my mouth.”
“If you think this is-”
But Ed kept talking, as if Stede hadn’t spoken. “I don’t know if you’ve heard the news, Stede Bonnet, but the game’s up. You’re not dead anymore. So you can fuck right off. Back to wherever ghosts go.”
++
Ed's been seeing ghosts. Stede's got something to get off his chest.

Summary
Ed’s aware that from the outside that might seem faintly ridiculous. Stede’s a posh boy with no real idea of what he’s doing, afterall, but he really doesn’t give a fuck. It’s been a very, very long time since he felt anything new and this is fun as fuck. Everything’s buzzing, he’s obsessed with this man, thrumming with feeling every moment they’re together. So Izzy and anyone else who might make a face like he’s finally lost his marbles can fuck the fuck off.
Ed has known since he was a child that he is not someone God intended to have fine things, and Stede is for sure a fine thing. But he has also known since he killed his father that a lot of things which are supposed to be up to God can be in his hands if he wants them enough.
So he’s gonna see where this goes. He’s gonna lean the fuck in.

Edward Teach is in love for the first time. Obsessively, fervently, overwhelmingly in love. I did the thing where I was gonna write porn then feelings happened.
