Crossing his ankles propped on the table, jostling his helmet next to him, his mouth quirked up. “At least I’m not you, who sees the idiot as some sort of pseudo father figure.”
Dick choked on his coffee, and Damian sputtered and took a step back. “What?!”
“You heard me.” He thumbed in the direction of Dick, who clumsily tried to mop up the hot liquid staining his shirt and scalding his skin with a crusty dishrag that smelled like mildew. “You see him in a way you don’t your own dear old dad.”
Damian’s cheeks darkened in a deep flush that even reddened the tips of his ears. “You don’t know what you’re talking about!”

“Is the Red Hood’s helmet watertight?” someone asked, and Jason was cold and dripping and on the ground next to Dick and he wasn’t breathing.
“No,” Tim’s voice was tight.
“We need to take it off,” Lagoon Boy's words were met by a handful of yells, both in person and through the comms.
“This is the Red Hood,” Shazam said. “They say he has explosives in his helmet. It might explode if you try to take it,”
“Seriously?”
Dick reached towards the helmet to unlock it with trembling hands, to everyone’s alarm.
“The explosives.” Superboy interjected.
“Connor,” Tim cut in sharply. “We know what we’re doing,”I had thoughts about Jason being super cagey about his identity as the Red Hood to the point that he has explosives in his helmet to prevent people from taking it off, and the vulnerability of the Batfam members knowing the ins and outs of his helmet and how to take it off despite it all.

The headaches. It was the tiredness that preceded everything else — his body preparing for the onslaught of pain that’d last him for a day. Usually, he texted Bruce when a headache would take him out for the count, but… Spryal still left some untended, gaping wounds in his fragile chest, the size of Bruce’s relentless fists. It's one bat vs. six of the best profilers in the world and the second best tech goddess in history so it's really anyone's guess whether Dick Grayson will learn all their secrets before they learn his.
It's okay, though, he only has to last long enough to either keep Emily Prentiss alive or figure out if she's working with a mass terrorist.
